Xbox: A Dev Kit Was Recently Rated in South Korea

This whole week, all we have been hearing about are the leaks on the next console by Sony, the PlayStation 5 Pro. Interestingly, it seems that finally, some news about the competition has also surfaced online. An Xbox dev kit has recently been rated in South Korea, which hints towards a bunch of exciting things.

As spotted by Xbox News for Koreans (via Insider Gaming) a new Xbox dev kit was approved by the National Radio Research Agency in South Korea. Other details that have been revealed are that this Xbox dev kit has been manufactured in China and Vietnam, and its model number is 2089. To launch any electronic device in South Korea, it has to be approved by the National Radio Research Agency.

There are many speculations on what this device could be. Firstly, all heads would turn towards a mid-gen refresh and hope for an Xbox Series X Pro or something similar. However, there is another console that has been in the rumour pipeline for quite some time and that is the all-digital Xbox Series X; however, in the end, we can't say for sure. Another detail that should be considered is that when the Xbox Series X/S dev kits were rated in South Korea in June 2020, they were released soon after in November 2020, which could mean that Xbox might be going for a similar release window as the PlayStation 5 Pro.

Furthermore, popular gaming news source, Jez Corden, recently took to X (formerly Twitter) to talk about him being “hyped for the future of Xbox.” When one YouTuber replied to their tweet stating, that they are “hyped for games more than anything,” Corden replied that he is “hyped for hardware.” It is all cryptic and very hard to understand, but seeing Corden's tweet and the dev kit being rated in South Korea happening at the same time does spark some curiosity. Regardless, we will have to wait for an official announcement to know for sure.
