Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer Likes a Tweet About Handheld Consoles - Xbox

Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer has just liked another tweet about handheld consoles, adding more fuel to the wild rumours about Xbox coming up with a next-gen handheld console soon.

Spencer liked a tweet from Tom Warren, a reliable source within the industry. The original tweet from Warren was about a ROG Ally featuring an Xbox Series UI. One of the replies on that tweet from a user mentioned that Windows OS is “rough on a handheld”. Now, in the tweet that Phil Spencer liked, Warren replied to this user where he agreed and added that while Asus tried to make the Windows OS better on their ROG Ally, he felt that “Microsoft really needs to step in here.”

Even though there’s mention of a handheld here, it is important to note that this still does not necessarily imply that there is an Xbox handheld in the works. Moreover, this is a conversation about the compatibility of the Windows OS on handheld devices instead of Xbox hardware.

Previously, Spencer had also liked a tweet about a Windows Central article, which is more directly related to Xbox hardware. The article from Jez Corden claimed that an Xbox handheld device is “inevitable.”

These instances also relate to the recent reports about a Switch-like dockable handheld console being developed by Xbox. The rumours have suggested that Xbox will release two consoles in 2026, one of them is the suggested handheld, and the other would be a traditional console such as the Xbox Series X.
