Li became intrigued by Mei's notes on "extra-dimensional lifeforms" published online,and thus invited her to a research project revolving around an Archetype she worked on at Dubai. Until then, she had tough luck in comprehending it ever since stumbling upon Professor Ashihara's notes about the Archetype and with it, the latter's past attempts to stop the upcoming calamity which both involved red dust (a form of the Archetype) and about to occur in 2030. The two would later properly meet during her lecture in sharing what she learned about the Archetype so far. It possessed incredible properties—light yet durable, and also able to regenerate itself. Until recently, it had only been a hypothetical material, but she revealed four Archetype cubes and showcased their ability to trap a laser and increase its energy, which soon causes them to shatter. That prompted Mei to speculate out loud that Archetype was refracting the light through time, explaining how it could violate the law of conservation with energy. Though the brief commotion brought a bad impression upon her (her colleague Steven thought little about her due to concerned more with a situation with survey team at a lake at hand), Li became intrigued by such a theory and subsequently asked her to write a report to elaborate it which then presented to her on the next day.

She was killed by a flock of Rodan while trying to save a cat from them on the way to the airport. However, she had ensured that one of the Orthogonal Diagonalyzers was sent to her colleagues in Tokyo which they used to destroy Godzilla and ending the catastrophe he was about to bring upon to the world.
