Rise of Cobra White House

The White House in G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra

The White House is an important location in the United States of America. It is the home of the President of the United States and the main base from which he conducts his operations, within the Oval Office. The White House is seen in the films G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and G.I. Joe: Retaliation.

After Cobra destroys the Eiffel Tower using a nanomite warhead, the President takes a report inside the White House for two of his aides. They report that the French are not happy and have detained the G.I. Joe Team. He then gets in contact with the French ambassador.

Ripcord is Arrested Outside the White House

Cobra continues with their ambitions, launching a series of additional missiles including one targeting the White House. The President is forced to retreat to an underground bunker, but his Secret Service team has been infiltrated by one of Cobra's Neo-Vipers, who kills the President's men before admitting another of Cobra's agents. Meanwhile, Ripcord manages to save the White House by diverting the missile into the upper atmosphere and allowing it to explode harmlessly there. He then parachutes back to Earth and is arrested on the White House lawn, the agents there only seeing him as an intruder and not knowing of his heroic actions.

After the Joes have succeeded in shutting down Cobra's remaining operations, the President glad-handles some reporters outside on the White House lawn. He then retreats back inside to the Oval Office. There he sits down and lounges at the desk, cracking his knuckles and whistling the tune "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow." He is not in fact, the President at all, but rather Zartan, the Cobra agent from before.

Following Zartan's usurpation of the Presidency, he leads the nation in the Presidents place from the White House. After Cobra Commander reveals Project Zeus during the fake President's nuclear summit at Fort Sumter, a Cobra flag is raised over the White House in place of the American flag and two Cobra banners are draped between the White House's pillars. When Cobra's plan is thwarted, however, the real President is rescued and the White House is restored to normal. The President then holds a ceremony honoring the G.I. Joe Team on the White House lawn.
