This Privacy Policy describes how your Personal Information is collected, used, and shared when you register at, visit or make a purchase from cuzenmatcha.com (the “Site”).  This Privacy Policy applies to our processing of your Personal Information, which is governed by the California Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA”) and other applicable data protection laws and regulations in the United States.


Personal Information we collect

When you visit the Site, World Matcha Inc. (hereinafter referred to as “World Matcha,” “we,” “us” or “our”), an owner and operator of the Site, automatically collects certain information about your device, including information about your web browser, IP address, time zone, and some of the cookies that are installed on your device. Additionally, as you browse the Site, we collect information about the individual web pages or products that you view, what websites or search terms referred you to the Site, and information about how you interact with the Site. We refer to this automatically-collected information as “Device Information”. We collect Device Information directly from you, for example, when you browse the Site.
We collect Device Information using the following technologies: 
  •  “Cookies” are data files that are placed on your device or computer and often include an anonymous unique identifier. For more information about cookies, and how to disable cookies, visit http://www.allaboutcookies.org. 
  • “Log files” track actions occurring on the Site, and collect data including your IP address, browser type, Internet service provider, referring/exit pages, and date/time stamps. 
  • “Web beacons”, “tags”, and “pixels” are electronic files used to record information about how you browse the Site. 

Additionally, when you make your personal account on the Site or make a purchase or attempt to make a purchase through the Site, we collect certain information from you, including your name, billing address, shipping address, payment information, email address, and phone number. We refer to this information as “Order Information”. We collect Order Information directly from you, for example, when you provide the information to us to fulfill an order, and from amazon.com when you use Amazon Pay.

When we talk about “Personal Information” in this Privacy Policy, we are talking both about Device Information and Order Information.

Among the Personal Information described above, we have collected the following categories of Personal Information under the CCPA within the last twelve (12) months:

World Matcha will not collect additional categories of Personal Information or use the Personal Information we collected for materially different, unrelated, or incompatible purposes without providing you notice.

How do we use your personal information?

We may use the Order Information that we collect generally to fulfill any orders placed through the Site (including processing your payment information, arranging for shipping, and providing you with invoices and/or order confirmations).

Additionally, we may use this Order Information to: 

  • Communicate with you; 
  • Screen our orders for potential risk or fraud;
  • When in line with the preferences you have shared with us, provide you with information or advertising relating to our products or services; and
  • Evaluate or conduct a merger, divestiture, restructuring, reorganization, dissolution, or other sale or transfer of some or all of World Matcha’s assets, whether as a going concern or as part of bankruptcy, liquidation, or similar proceeding, in which Personal Information held by World Matcha about our customers is among the assets transferred.


We may use the Device Information that we collect to help us screen for potential risk and fraud (in particular, your IP address), and more generally to improve and optimize our Site (for example, by generating analytics about how our customers browse and interact with the Site, and to assess the success of our marketing and advertising campaigns).

We may also use the Personal Information to respond to law enforcement requests and as required by applicable law, court order, or governmental regulations or as described to you when collecting your personal information or as otherwise set forth in the CCPA.

Sharing and disclosing your personal information

We may share and disclose your Personal Information with third parties to help us use your Personal Information, as described above, for business purposes or commercial purposes. We also use Google Analytics to help us understand how our customers use the Site -- you can read more about how Google uses your Personal Information here: https://www.google.com/intl/en/policies/privacy/. You can also opt-out of Google Analytics here: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. 

In the preceding twelve (12) months, we have shared and disclosed your Personal Information with the following categories of third parties for business purposes or commercial purposes: service providers, including credit processors, retail fulfillment service providers, email marketing vendors, analytics service providers, tax processors, affiliate companies, shipping service providers, professional service providers, e.g., legal and accounting.

Finally, we may also share and disclose your Personal Information to comply with applicable laws and regulations, to respond to a subpoena, search warrant or other lawful request for information we receive, or to otherwise protect our rights. 

Sales of personal information

In the preceding twelve (12) months, World Matcha has not sold Personal Information.

Behavioral advertising

As described above, we use your Personal Information to provide you with targeted advertisements or marketing communications we believe may be of interest to you. California resident’s rights and choices with respect to personal information

If you are a California resident, the CCPA provides you with specific rights regarding your Personal Information. This section describes your CCPA rights and explains how to exercise those rights.

Access to specific information and data portability rights

You have the right to request that World Matcha disclose certain information to you about our collection and use of your Personal Information over the past twelve (12) months from the time of your request. Once we receive and confirm your verifiable consumer request (see Exercising Access, Data Portability, and Deletion Rights), we will disclose to you:

  • The categories of Personal Information we collected about you;
  • The categories of sources for the Personal Information we collected about you;
  • Our business or commercial purpose for collecting or selling that Personal Information;
  • The categories of third parties with whom we share that Personal Information.
  • The specific pieces of Personal Information we collected about you (also called a data portability request); and/or
  • If we disclosed your Personal Information for a business purpose, disclosures for a business purpose, identifying the Personal Information categories that each category of recipient obtained.

Deletion request rights

You have the right to request that World Match delete any of your Personal Information that we collected from you and retained, subject to certain exceptions. Once we receive and confirm your verifiable consumer request (see Exercising Access, Data Portability, and Deletion Rights), we will delete (and direct our service providers to delete) your Personal Information from our records, unless an exception applies.

We may deny your deletion request if retaining the information is necessary for us or our service provider(s) to:

  • Complete the transaction for which we collected the Personal Information, provide a good or service that you requested, take actions reasonably anticipated within the context of our ongoing business relationship with you, or otherwise perform our contract with you;
  • Detect security incidents, protect against malicious, deceptive, fraudulent, or illegal activity, or prosecute those responsible for such activities;
  • Debug products to identify and repair errors that impair existing intended functionality;
  • Exercise free speech, ensure the right of another consumer to exercise their free speech rights, or exercise another right provided for by law;
  • Comply with the California Electronic Communications Privacy Act (Cal. Penal Code § 1546 et. seq.);
  • Engage in public or peer-reviewed scientific, historical, or statistical research in the public interest that adheres to all other applicable ethics and privacy laws, when the information's deletion may likely render impossible or seriously impair the research's achievement, if you previously provided informed consent;
  • Enable solely internal uses that are reasonably aligned with consumer expectations based on your relationship with us;
  • Comply with a legal obligation; or
  • Make other internal and lawful uses of that information that are compatible with the context in which you provided it.

Exercising access, data portability, and deletion rights

To exercise the access, data portability, and deletion rights described above, please submit a verifiable consumer request to us by e-mail at hi@cuzenmatcha.com

Only you, or someone legally authorized to act on your behalf, may make a verifiable consumer request related to your Personal Information. You may also make a verifiable consumer request on behalf of your minor child.

You may only make a verifiable consumer request for access or data portability twice within a 12-month period. The verifiable consumer request must:

  • Provide sufficient information that allows us to reasonably verify you are the person about whom we collected Personal Information or an authorized representative (e.g. a copy of passport or driving license) ; and
  • Describe your request with sufficient detail that allows us to properly understand, evaluate, and respond to it.

We cannot respond to your request or provide you with Personal Information if we cannot verify your identity or authority to make the request and confirm the Personal Information relates to you.

We will only use Personal Information provided in a verifiable consumer request to verify the requestor's identity or authority to make the request.

Response timing and format

We endeavor to respond to a verifiable consumer request within forty-five (45) days of its receipt. If we require more time (up to 45 days), we will inform you of the reason and extension period in writing.

If you have an account with us, we will deliver our written response to that account. If you do not have an account with us, we will deliver our written response by mail or electronically, at your option.

Any disclosures we provide will only cover the 12-month period preceding the verifiable consumer request's receipt. The response we provide will also explain the reasons we cannot comply with a request, if applicable. For data portability requests, we will select a format to provide your Personal Information that is readily useable and should allow you to transmit the information from one entity to another entity without hindrance.

We do not charge a fee to process or respond to your verifiable consumer request unless it is excessive, repetitive, or manifestly unfounded. If we determine that the request warrants a fee, we will tell you why we made that decision and provide you with a cost estimate before completing your request.

Opt-out rights

We have not sold and will not sell any Personal Information collected from you.

Non-discrimination

We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA rights. Unless permitted by the CCPA, we will not:

  • Deny you goods or services.

  • Charge you different prices or rates for goods or services, including through granting discounts or other benefits, or imposing penalties.

  • Provide you a different level or quality of goods or services.

  • Suggest that you may receive a different price or rate for goods or services or a different level or quality of goods or services.

Do not track

Please note that we do not alter our Site’s data collection and use practices when we see a Do Not Track signal from your browser. 

Other California privacy rights

California’s "Shine the Light" law (Civil Code Section § 1798.83) permits users of our Site that are California residents to request certain information regarding our disclosure of Personal Information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. To make such a request, please send an email to hi@cuzenmatcha.com.

Data retention

When you place an order through the Site, we will maintain your Order Information for our records unless and until you ask us to delete this information. 

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as appropriate in order to reflect, for example, changes to our practices or for other operational, legal or regulatory reasons. When changes are made to this Privacy Policy, an update notice will be posted on the website and will be effective as of the date posted.
