On a small plate, mix salt, sugar and cayenne with a fork. Lightly wet rim of a medium cocktail glass with water or lime juice, and dip glass on plate, coating rim, then tap to shake off excess.
In a cocktail shaker, crush watermelon with a muddler or long-handled spoon. Half fill the shaker with ice and vigorously shake the watermelon, syrup, lime juice, mezcal and tequila. Strain into glass and serve.
This is one of my favorite drinks. I use the cut up melon when that's all that is available, the whole melon when available. The results are the same. I use equal parts of pureed melon and tequila. I also don't add the simple syrup, the melon seems sweet enough to me. The mescal gives it a smoky taste, and the salt and sugar with pimenton which is what I use is so good. Cheers!
Very tasty. Could add a little mint. Perhaps a tiny bit more lime.
In watermelon sugar the deeds were done and done again as my life is done in watermelon sugar. I will tell you about it because I am here and you are distant.
did not have jovan mezcal - but I did have Sauza infused with cayenne in the freezer…an excellent substitute for those who like a spicy cocktail!
This is not for me; the smoky taste of the mescal fights with the watermelon sweetness... too contrasted. Not in the same universe...
