Cambium Assessment offers a robust testing management system that has successfully supported large-scale statewide assessment programs since the early 2000s. We develop innovative and customized standards-based assessments using a variety of test designs and test administration plans, and deliver fixed-form or computer-adaptive assessments in about half of the United States.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, CAI proposed an adaptive progress monitoring system that allowed districts to help measure and monitor learning loss due to COVID-19. In collaboration with states, CAI was able to craft a new ThroughYear test design that allows students to test multiple times throughout the year to determine learning progress at different parts of the year. These ThroughYear assessment models administer multiple tests throughout the school year as part of an assessment system designed to produce a single summative score meeting federal and state accountability requirements. This purpose of producing a summative score distinguishes ThroughYear assessments from traditional interim or benchmark assessments which, while also administering multiple tests during the year, are not used in accountability systems.
CAI has successfully delivered online statewide summative for ELA, mathematics, science, and social studies in client states since 2007. CAI uses one set of systems to enroll students, deliver assessments and report on results so regardless of the number of assessments a state needs to offer; it can be all delivered under the same platform.
With the administration of online assessments in numerous states and territories (which roughly serves 41% of the students nationwide), CAI has a wealth of experience implementing various test designs, as well as working with single states and consortia. All our systems are flexible enough to support any psychometrically sound test design, as well as various item types. The system can administer a test and provide a wealth of supports for the student.
CAI believes in serving all learners. Because traditional assessments are not accessible and appropriate to students with the most severe cognitive disabilities, we offer alternate assessments. CAI was the first to do the following:
With all online assessments, CAI is committed to making sure that the test is 100% accessible to these students using an array of tools and technologies, including assistive technologies students typically use in the classroom.
CAI believes in serving all learners. Our English Learner Assessments is a full solution for all students including those with low vision and special needs. We are committing to making sure that the test is 100% accessible to these students using an array of tools and technologies, including assistive technologies students typically use in the classroom.
CAI can provide additional resources, such as interim assessments, to monitor learning throughout the year. These assessments can be built as full assessments aligned to summative assessments. Cambium can also include additional reporting information not typically seen on summative assessments, such as item-level results and student responses to the items that will provide teachers with actionable, immediate data for users across school districts; this allows teachers to track students’ mastery of grade-level standards and to inform instruction during the school year.
Cambium Assessment can also support classroom testing with shortened assessments that provides actionable, immediate data for users across school districts; this allows teachers to track students’ mastery of particular standards and topics. These blocks can focus on one or two standards and assist teachers in targeting students’ areas of strengths and weaknesses. In addition, teachers can administer pre-designed tests or use CAI’s Authoring Tool to create their own educator-authored assessments. CAI’s intuitive and user-friendly Authoring Tool is an end-to-end product that allows educators to use existing test items (already loaded into a library), create new items, build and share tests, search existing tests, deliver tests to students via the Test Delivery System, and retrieve scores from the Centralized Reporting System.
