Cookie Management Policy
The Luxinnovation platform www.luxinnovation.lu (hereinafter referred to as the "Platform"1) uses cookies. These cookies enable us to personalise content and offer optimal browsing conditions in terms of accessibility, convenience and ease of use.

This cookie policy is an integral part of our privacy policy. It is intended to inform users of our platform ("You" or the "Visitors" or the "Users") about the cookies used, how they are managed, how they are used and what your rights are.

Luxinnovation draws your attention to the fact that the refusal, deletion or blocking of all or some of the cookies may have consequences, in particular making certain functions of the platform unavailable.

    1. Identity of the data controller

    The platform is operated by Luxinnovation, an Economic Interest Grouping incorporated under the laws of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and registered with the Luxembourg Trade Register under number C16. Its registered office is located at 5, Avenue des Hauts Fourneaux L-4362 Esch-sur-Alzette ("Luxinnovation" or "we").

     You can submit your questions and requests by sending an email to: gdpr@luxinnovation.lu

    1. What is a cookie?

    Cookies are "trackers". These are small text files placed and/or read and/or stored on your equipment (PC, tablet, smartphone, etc.) by your browser (Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Internet Explorer, Apple Safari, Opera, etc.). These files are generated automatically (and subject to your acceptance of non-essential cookies) on your first visit to the Luxinnovation platform.

     For the duration of its validity, the cookie makes it possible to authenticate and automatically recognise the terminal connected to the Luxinnovation platform and, at the same time, collect your browsing behaviour data.

    1. Why are cookies used

    Cookies are activated by the Luxinnovation platform to ensure its smooth operation, optimise its user-friendliness and functionalities and to provide the platform's publisher with a wide range of information: to authenticate you, memorise your user ID, your language selection, adapt content to your main areas of interest or measure traffic on the platform and analyse the audience for our content.

    Depending on their purpose, cookies can be grouped into two categories: “essential cookies” and "non-essential cookies".

    Essential cookies are essential for the proper functioning of the Luxinnovation platform. They cannot be deactivated and do not require your consent. They relate to cookies that facilitate:

    • visualisation of the content and all the functionalities (dashboards, forms, hyperlinks) made available to you;

    • recording the user's choice of terminal preferences (language selected, display resolution, operating system, etc.). This eliminates the need for users to re-enter their settings each time they visit the site, and offers them a personalised browsing experience;

    • implementation of the platform's security measures;

    • memorising information concerning your login if you have a user account and your choice of cookies.

    Non-essential cookies (audience, traffic, sharing buttons, etc.) are subject to your consent. They can be rejected. They include cookies that facilitate:

    • watching the videos (posted on Youtube);

    • collecting data relating to user behaviour on the site;

    • measuring the statistical audience of the site (analytical cookies). This data is completely anonymous;

    • sharing your content recommendations via social networks (using share buttons):

    • installing social plugins on the site.

    There is also a distinction between "internal cookies" (created by our website) and "external cookies" or "third-party cookies" (created by external services used by our website).

    On our website, internal cookies are either "session cookies" or "permanent cookies”:

    • Session cookies expire as soon as visitors leave the Luxinnovation platform.

    • Permanent cookies remain on the computer (or any other device used to access our platform) until their lifetime has expired, even if the browser has been closed. They can identify visitors for more than one visit to our website, e.g. to remember preferences for a future session. It is possible to delete them by clearing the history section in the settings of the device used (please refer to point d. of this cookie management policy).

    The Luxinnovation platform uses, among other things:

    • functionality cookies: they optimise the operation of the Luxinnovation platform and guarantee smooth, personalised browsing;

    • preference cookies, which remain after your session to remember your preferences and settings;

    • security cookies: to protect your data, in particular your connection data;

    • analytical cookies: they include data such as the time and date of connections to the platform, the recurrence of visits and the browsing preferences and habits of users (in particular the path via which users get to the platform: via social networks, search engines, other websites, etc.);

    • sharing cookies (social networks): the sharing buttons allow you to share the platform's content via visitors' social networks. By activating these buttons, a cookie is generated and installed on their terminal. Its role is to establish a link between browsing on the Luxinnovation platform and the user's account on social networks.

    1. How can you set cookies

    When visiting the platform for the first time, a "cookie" banner appears to allow you to configure your choices via 3 buttons: Accept, Reject, Manage cookies. This last option allows you to set your choices according to the different categories of cookies: target group, visitors, sharing on social networks, in particular. For future visits, a "Manage cookies" link is permanently available at the bottom of each page, allowing you to modify your initial consent at any time.

    We would also like to draw your attention to the fact that most browsers systematically offer their users the option of configuring cookies according to their choices and preferences. To ensure that these are respected, go to the 'options' or 'preferences' or 'tools' menu in your web browser. The following links may be useful for understanding these parameters. Otherwise, you will need to use your browser's "Help" option for more details.

    With regard to sharing cookies via social links, see the links below:

    To find out more about cookies, including information on managing and deleting cookies, please visit http://www.allaboutCookies.org/ (or https://www.youronlinechoices.com/lu/ in German and French).

    Luxinnovation draws the attention of users of its platform to the fact that any parameter setting is likely to modify, even alter, their browsing as well as the conditions of access to certain services that depend on the acceptance of cookies. Luxinnovation also reminds its users that, if they continue their browsing on the platform by accepting/rejecting all or some of the cookies, this automatically implies acceptance of cookies being placed on their terminal

    1. How long is your consent valid?

    When you "accept" the placement of cookies, a consent cookie is issued. Luxinnovation will keep this for 6 (six) months. At the end of this period – and unless you have modified your choice in the meantime – our system will automatically suggest that you renew your choice. If you "refuse" the placement of cookies, an opt-out cookie will be placed on your terminal (computer or any other device from which you are connected to our platform). Luxinnovation would like to draw your attention to the fact that if you decide to delete the cookies stored on your equipment, this is tantamount to resetting your choice and our system will ask you to configure the cookies you accept or refuse once again.

    1. How long are cookies stored for

    Cookies activated via the Luxinnovation platform have a lifetime of 6 (six) months from their start date.

    When you set your cookie preferences, your consent is valid for a period of 6 (six) months from the date of consent given on the Luxinnovation platform, unless you alter your choice before this period expires.

    Statistical data generated by cookies is kept for a period of 36 (thirty-six) months.

    1. Changes to this cookie management policy

    Luxinnovation may modify and amend its Cookie Management Policy at any time.

    In the event of substantial changes, Luxinnovation will inform its users via the cookie banner, in particular.
