Vehicle Upgrades to Get First
Vehicles are a key part of the gameplay in Sand Land but as you unlock the ability to craft more parts, it can be hard to know which upgrades to focus on first. To make the choice easier, we've compiled a list of vehicle upgrades we'd recommend making or finding first.
Vehicle Upgrades to Get First
As you complete the main story missions, you'll unlock 5 vehicles. However, there are additional vehicles you can craft by collecting frames from activities such as Bounty Hunts.
Below you'll find information on the upgrades we'd recommend choosing for each of these 5 vehicles you'll get as part of the main missions. If you're looking for additional information on all of the vehicles available in Sand Land, see our Vehicles page.

Vehicle Upgrades for the Battle Tank
The Battle Tank begins with a standard Tank Gun as its primary weapon. You can quickly swap this out for a Smoothbore Gun, Cannon, and Battery, or upgrade the Tank Gun itself.
In the early stages of the game, the best option is to upgrade the Tank Gun to a Tank Gun+. It won't change much in terms of the capacity and attack interval, but it will increase the attack. After this, you should focus on finding or crafting a 76.2mm Cannon +. This has a lower capacity and slower attack interval, but it significantly increases damage.
The secondary weapon can range from a Machine Gun to a Gatling Gun and a Heavy Burst Machine Gun. As soon as you pick up either a Heavy Machine Gun or Gatling Gun+, swap to one of those. We'd recommend the Gatling Gun+ purely because it has a similar attack interval to the original Machine Gun, but a higher damage output. Alternatively, go for the Anti-Material Rifle. This is somewhat good against bots, so can help in situations where you're reloading your main weapon but dealing with a group of vehicles.
To maximize the damage and efficiency of the Battle Tank, you'll want to upgrade the EX Chip slot so you can those you find or unlock such as the Speed Booster Chip. This will prove beneficial in fights, allowing the Tank to move faster and dodge attacks. Under the Options menu, we found that the High-Capacity Missile Pod proved useful in multiple boss fights.
Vehicle Upgrades for the Jump Bot
The Jump Bot's primary and secondary weapons are a Grenade Launcher and Machine Gun. The Grenade Launcher works well and you won't need to worry about upgrading this until around the mid-game, where you can swap to something like the 40mm Light Mortar that significantly increases damage. As for the Machine Gun, this can be swapped to a Heavy Burst Machine Gun when the vehicle is around Level 5, to increase damage.
For the Jump Bot, the most significant upgrades you can make will be around the Options and EX Chip slot. Unlock the EX Chip slot, and add chips that Boost Recovery or increase Endurance. This will make the Jump Bot more mobile in fights. As for options, you can find High-Capacity Missle Pods, that lock on to targets and allow you to shoot from afar. This helps you step back from the action at times, unlike the Grenade Launcher, which requires you to get close to your target.
Vehicle Upgrades for the Motorbike
The Motorbike's main purpose in the game is to increase your exploration speed and allow you to reach places by using ramps to complete jumps. It comes equipped with a Shotgun as the primary weapon and a Machine Gun as the secondary weapon. Aiming can be difficult with the bike, so you'll want every shot to count. The Shotgun can be upgraded at later levels, but when you first unlock it, the 12-Gauge Buckshot is just fine. The Machine Gun should be upgraded to a Heavy Machine Gun as soon as you can for increase damage.
The best vehicle upgrades for the Motorbike will be focused on the Suspension and Options. The standard Stabilizer for the Motorbike makes it easy to handle and ensures the bike stays balanced, but to increase the efficiency of its handling, aim to unlock and craft Lightweight Mods that increase the speed. Be careful with this, however, as it will decrease the overall defense.
In terms of the Options slot, we picked up the Flaming Boost early on and used this for most of our time with the Motorbike. It not only boosts your speed but also engulfs the Motorbike in flames, which immediately takes down any targets that you run into.
Vehicle Upgrades for the Hovercar
The Hovercar will be essential in at least one boss battle, and for accessing areas that were previously locked off because of deep water. You'll start with a Rocket Launcher, and thankfully, this does plenty of damage as it is, making it worthwhile to keep. As for the secondary weapon, you'll have a Machine Gun that you can upgrade to increase the damage.
The focus for the Hovercar should be upgrading the Engine and the Suspension. Increasing the thruster will mean you're speeding across areas covered in deep water, while the upgrades for the Anti-Grav engine will make it easier to handle and increase your boost recovery.
Vehicle Upgrades for the Battle Armor
By the time you get the Battle Armor, you'll be at the later stage of the game. This means that the parts available for you to create and acquire for the Battle Armor will likely be of a higher rarity. With that in mind, the first thing you'll want to do is upgrade the Brass Knuckle Arm. If you prefer the Uppercut attack, try to find or craft a Super Brass Knuckle Arm+. If you'd prefer a different kind of attack, we found that the Super Shield Arm+ was a good alternative for increasing guarding and allowing for a continuous rush attack.
Besides improving the primary weapon, it's a good idea to unlock the EX Chip slot, so you can add a booster in here. The Endurance Booster Chip is a great choice for increasing the overall HP of the armor, letting you make the most of it for longer in battle.
