All Sun Temple Locations
The journey to investigate The Sun Temple Stories will have you visiting the Kindlewastes area of Embervale. You won't just find the Haunted Sun Temple there, however, as there are multiple dotted around the map. On this page of our Enshrouded guide, we'll show you where each of the Sun Temples is and walkthroughs of what you can find inside.
All Kindlewaste Sun Temples
Besides the Haunted Sun Temple that you'll visit during the Sun Temple Stories main quest, there are four different Sun Temples you can explore across the Kindlewastes. Each one has treasures for you to uncover, but are also often well-protected and require solving a puzzle or two to unlock all the secrets inside.
You can find walkthroughs for each Sun Temple below, just click on the links to jump to each section:
Haunted Sun Temple
The Haunted Sun Temple is the only one you will visit as part of a main story quest. You can find it in Brittlebush in the Kindlewastes. To get there, fast-travel to the Kindlewastes Ancient Spire and soar northwest toward Brittlebush. Once you reach the settlement, look for the building along the northern edge with a staircase leading up to it and some Scavengers guarding the entrance. That is your destination.
Head inside the temple and pick up the lore page that is crudely speared to the floor. The lore page provides a warning of the boss you will encounter at the end of the temple. Head right and past the bodies that litter the floor to get closer to the enemy you were warned about in the note.
Turn left at the end of the hall and collect the Sparks from the fire before venturing deeper into the temple to face off against a Fell Knight. These enemies are strong and vicious, but jump attacks are a good way to take care of them without taking a lot of damage.
Defeat the Knight and pick the lock on the large double doors to venture further into the temple. Head straight through the next set of doors and turn right to go up the stairs. Turn left and run to the end of the passage to find a button. Push the button and make your way back to the double doors.
Run down the staircase to the north and turn left. Turn left again to find the second button.
Head back up the stairs and descend to the deepest point of the temple. Prepare yourself for battle because this is the point where you will face off against Fell Sicklescythe that haunts the Sun Temple.
The Fell Sicklescythe fight can be brutal, especially for melee fighters. Since the specter is floating and teleports frequently, it can be difficult to land a shot on it. Make use of the columns and pillars around the room to block the boss's attacks and keep chipping away at its health until you finally defeat it.
North Kindlewastes Sun Temple
The first of the Sun Temples can be found in the northern part of the Kindlewastes. It's just east of the Nomad Highlands and can be reached by gliding from the Nomad Highlands Ancient Spire. Head east and through the Shroud to reach it.
You'll find two Scavengers protecting it -- one outside with a projectile weapon, and one inside with dual poison cleavers. When you've dealt with these, step inside to find a Flame Beacon. Go through the hole in the wall to the right, and you'll enter a room with a Flame Shrine at the back. Use this to collect Sparks.
Go down the stairs, where you'll come to a double door. Above it are the lights you'll have seen through the Ancient Spires, indicating that you need to find the buttons to turn them on. There is a room on the left side of the stairs and one on the right -- both need Lockpicks to be opened, which require 2x Metal Scraps to be crafted. We'd recommend starting with the left, as it's slightly easier.
Go through the door to the left and be prepared to deal with Scavengers and dogs. Head for the back of the room, where you'll see stairs up to the left and a corridor to the right. Take the corridor first to find a chest, then go up the stairs to the left. Be careful as you reach the top, as a Scavenger with a crossbow will be waiting for you (though there is an explosive barrel behind them that you might want to use to clear the area quickly).
Once you've dealt with this Scavenger, you'll see a door to the left of them. Ignore this for now, and instead go left of that door, to find another Scavenger and a dog protecting a chest. Return to the door and go through this, but be careful as you do. Just beyond it, there's an explosive that will detonate, and another Scavenger waiting. Clear this area, then drop down to the room below on the left. You'll find yet another Scavenger and dog waiting for you here, but you'll also find the button you need in the northwest of the room, as well as a chest.
Press the button and return to the main room, ready to head over to the door on the left of the stairs. Inside here, be prepared for lots of Scavengers with projectiles. We'd recommend taking out those that have crossbows before the ones with explosives, as they're harder to dodge.
When you step inside, you'll see a door on the other end of the room with 4 lights. 2 of these will be on, but you'll need to use the levers around the room to turn on the remaining 2. To solve this puzzle, flip the first one on the right, and the second one on the left. With the room now open, you can find the button at the back of it, next to a chest.
With the two lights on, you can now go through the main double door at the bottom of the stairs. You'll enter into a corridor, where there'll be two electricity traps you'll have to run by to get to the other end. Open the door on the other side, and you'll be in a chamber, with a golden chest in the middle of it. This will also require a Lockpick to open it. But with the goodies inside all snapped up, there's nothing else to see in this Sun Temple!
Kindlewastes East Sun Temple
To reach this Sun Temple, wait until you reach the Kindlewastes Ancient Spire in the east. This will make Fast Travel to and from the location easier. The Sun Temple can be found just to the northeast of the Ancient Spire.
This one you can stroll right into, as it's not protected by anyone on the outside. You'll find a Flame Beacon inside, so if you die, you'll respawn straight back here. The room goes off into two pathways here, but they meet in the middle of the next room, so it doesn't matter which doorway you take.
As with other Sun Temples, there's a Flame Shrine at the back of the second room where you can collect Sparks. When you walk down the stairs in this one, you'll see that there's no puzzle to solve to unlock the main double door, but it does take you into the Shroud.
Walk through the main door, and be prepared for the enemy that will try to jump you here. The path then splits into three directions, with stairs taking you further down just in front, and then off to the left and right.
Go off to the right and watch out for the critters that will emerge, especially the red bugs that explode when they reach you. Dash away from them when they turn red to wipe out all the surrounding bugs but get away safely. Head for the end of the corridor, where you'll see a door that needs to be opened by a button on the right, and another door straight ahead.
Take out the archer inside, then press the button in the northeast corner of the room. This won't open the locked door you just went by, so return to the main stairs where you first entered the Shrouded section.
Now go left, and chop down the door to the room. An archer and a Knight-like enemy will be waiting for you inside, so enter carefully. Once you've cleared this, you can press the button in here.
With both buttons pressed, it's time to head down the stairs. It doesn't matter which staircase you take, as they both lead to the same place. However, if you take the left set of stairs you'll want to turn right first when you reach the bottom and vice versa if you take the right set of stairs. This will take you to a room, which has a gold chest inside.
Exit this room and go to the western side, to find the door that was opened by the two buttons. Before you go through here, however, you'll want to check opposite the door. Look for the barricade that can be broken down to reveal a hidden chest that requires a Lockpick to open it.
Now go through to the room in the west. Be prepared for lots of critters and Shrouded enemies in here, that you'll want to take down to safely explore the room. There are quite a few doors inside this section of the Sun Temple, so here's what you can expect to find.
Open the first door on the right (north) to find a tomb with plenty of loot. The second door on the right has a chest inside. On the left side of the room (south), head for the double doors. As you step into the next section, you'll be attacked by Banshees. Keep going south and up the stairs.
Again, it will split into two staircases here going left and right. Take the right one first, and deal with the Knight-like enemy and the Shrouded one. Run around to the end of the corridor to get the button. Then take the stairs on the left, and be careful of the lightning trap as you dash past to reach the second button.
Head back down the stairs and to the now-opened door in the south. Run to the end to find the gold chest and your loot for exploring the Sun Temple. As you exit here, go north, but turn right (east) at the bottom of the stairs to go through the second newly opened door. Press the button and you'll be back at the start of the Sun Temple, near the stairs you took when you first descended into the Shrouded section.
Kindlewastes Southeast Sun Temple
This Sun Temple can be found in the southeast corner of the Kindlewastes. It sits to the south of an area covered in Shroud, and at the end of the camp called Scatterborne. You're most likely to visit it during the Among the Bluejays side quest for the Alchemist, in which you'll get the Legendary Glider. It's a level 30 area, with lots of tough enemies to take out, especially if you work your way through the camp, so you'll want to be properly prepared!
If you don't feel like wiping out all of the inhabitants of Scatteborne, you can reach the Sun Temple by climbing along the mountains that run along the east of the camp. When you get to the door you'll see that 3 lights have to be lit to open it.
You can find two of them on either side of the door, and if you turn and face north (back toward Scatterborne) and look up on the archway, you'll see the third.
When the door is open, step inside and go up the stairs toward the red glow. In this room, there will be Skeletons so be prepared for a fight. After clearing the area, you can comfortably explore.
Look to the southwest side of the room to find a tomb you can open for loot, and approach the back of the room behind the central pillar to find a Flame Shrine. Look up toward the pillar, facing east to find a button to hit with a ranged attack.
Button 1
From here, take the stairs in the south of the room to go up to the next level. At the top of the stairs, you'll see spike traps on either side, but you should also pay attention to the pillar with the flame here.
Whatever side you take, if you head to the northern side of the room, you'll see the door you're trying to open. There are four buttons to find, and one has already been turned on by hitting the button downstairs. So, here's how to turn on the other three.
Button 2
Head for the western side of the room, and step out onto the balcony in the southwest (first doorway on your left). You can find the button on the right side of the door (if you face back toward the building). Once you press this button, fireballs will appear and start to roll along each side of the room.
Button 3
In the southeast corner of the room, look up above the doorway to find the next button. Turning this one on will start an electricity trap, that will fire lightning in front of the door.
Button 4
Button 4 is actually right by the door you want to open, and is hidden behind a bookcase. Go over to it and open the bookcase to move it out of the way and reach the button. With all four buttons found, go through the door and climb the stairs to the next level.
Go to the northern side of the building and take the next set of stairs up. We'd suggest taking the stairs on the left and following the rubble around to the south side of the building, so you can unlock the chest here.
Then follow the path around to the northern side, and look up to the southeast to find a grapple point. At the top of these stairs, you'll find a door that needs to be opened with a Lockpick.
Through the door, you'll find a lattice wall on the left and a breakable barricade on the right. Break through the barricade first, which will take you to a ledge outside. There's a grapple point here and another ledge down toward the north.
Jump down to this, then turn and face the west. You'll find another chest and ledge here, which you can run and jump other to. When you've looted the chest, turn around and head back inside the tower.
Climb the wall in the west, to reach the next level and then face south to find the next point to grapple to. When you're up here, turn and head to the north to find the golden chest. Inside, you'll find the Ghost Glider. This will unlock the recipe for the Ghost Glider at the Carpenter, and finish the Among The Bluejays side quest.
Achievement Unlocked!
Completing this side quest will also unlock the Winged Victory Achievement.
Kindlewastes Southwest Sun Temple
You can find this Sun Temple in the Southwest, close to Nomad Highlands and Surat's Rest. With two Sun Temples in the south, we'd recommend placing a base around this area.
When you reach this Sun Temple, you'll see it's much larger than the others and has multiple buildings for you to visit. The buildings in the north, east, and south all have lights above them that you need to turn on. This will involve going inside them and completing a puzzle to reach the button at the end, which will then turn on a light for the main building in the west.
North Building: Button 1
The building in the north requires a lockpick to open, so if you don't have one, try the other buildings first and smash pots and barrels to get 2x Metal Scraps to craft them. When you open the door, you'll be met by Skeletons patrolling the room. Once you've taken these down, you'll see another door up ahead with four lights.
To light these, you'll need to find the four buttons around the room. However, these are all hidden away behind gaps in the walls, which you can identify by the red glow coming from the spaces.
North Building Puzzle Button 1
To activate the first light, you'll want to use a ranged attack to hit the button behind the wall in the west. The gap is high up, so you'll need to step back to the center of the room to get it.
North Building Puzzle Button 2
The one in the north of the room is a bit trickier to get simply because of timing. You can climb up to the pillar that stands opposite it, but you'll need to hit the button quickly because of a spike trap that will rise.
North Building Puzzle Button 3
This one is in the southeast of the room. Use your grappling hook to zip up to the top of the ledge. Then use a ranged attack to angle down through the gap in the wall to shoot the button.
North Building Puzzle Button Light 4
This is on the eastern side of the room and can be hit just by standing near the gap in the wall and shooting through it.
East Building: Button 2
Make your way to the building in the east. Inside, you'll see buttons on the floor, and you'll need to take the correct path to reach the other side. Press the button on the wall on the right, on the wall, then look up at the ceiling. This will show you the route you need to take.
Once you're on the other side, go through the door and you'll see the button ahead. There's a chest to the left, before the stairs, and another near the button. This will open the center light on the building in the west.
South Building: Button 3
The building in the south is on higher ground, and there's no immediately obvious way to reach it. You can just double jump and force your character up the slope on the left of the building, but you're meant to head to the southwest corner to find the climbing frame that will help you up to it. We'd recommend doing this so you can also grab the chest that's up here.
Use the slope in the southwest to jump across to the broken pillars. At the end of these, you can use the Grappling Hook to go up to the beam and swing across to the lattice wall.
Climb up this, then use the Grappling Hook again to climb even further up. Be sure to go down to the chest before you use the Grappling Hook to swing across to the building.
Once you open the door and step inside, you'll pass two lightning traps that are turned off. In the next room, you'll see the button and a chest. Once you press the button, the lighting traps will activate and you'll need to dash past them to get back outside.
West Building
With all of the lights on, you can enter the west building and find the golden chest. Take the doorway on either the left or the right inside here, to reach the top of the building. Facing east, you'll see a Flame Shrine, as well as a body and a note.
Loot the body to unlock the Desert Temple Block building material and pick up the Deserted Note, which will complete the Derelict Kindlewastes side quest.
