Happy birthday, Roomba! This week marks the 10th anniversary of iRobot’s fleet of robotic helpers. To celebrate, they come bearing gifts. Isn’t that just like a minion?

The robotic overlords at iRobot have graciously offered one GeekMom reader the chance to win a brand-new iRobot Roomba 650 Vacuum Cleaning Robot.

In last week's iRobot Roomba 650 review, I mentioned that my house has been the cleanest it’s been in a while, all thanks to this always-eager electronic helper. It works on carpets, hardwood, tile and laminate floors, picking up hair, pet fur, lint, carpet fuzz and other funky debris that can accumulate on a daily basis.

Of course, my experience is not unique. According to iRobot, Roomba is in well over 6 million homes worldwide and has been sold in over 50 countries on six continents. Here are a few other interesting Roomba accomplishments, courtesy of iRobot:

  • Roomba has picked up a total of 2,100,000,000 pounds of dirt, which is equivalent to 10,500,000 St. Bernards.
  • Roomba has collected dirt, as well as rings, Legos, and even a few rodents!
  • Roomba goes by many names. Some of the most popular ones include Rosie, Robbie, Klaatu, Fido, and Zoomba.
  • Roomba has been a mode of transportation for dogs, cats, turtles, hamsters and even babies. (Um, don’t try that at home.)

It’s hard not to love a Roomba – especially a free Roomba. Want to win your very own Roomba 650? Just name your favorite robot of all-time in the comments section below. A winner will be randomly chosen from all our robot-loving entries. (You will be notified by email, so please supply one on the comment form.) The contest is open to U.S. residents from now through Sunday, September 23, 2012. Good luck!

Thanks to iRobot for supplying the Roomba 650 for this giveaway.
