Press Releases

WASHINGTON—U.S. Sen. Mark R. Warner (D-VA), Vice Chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, released the following statement regarding intelligence agencies returning their copies of the committee’s Study of the Central Intelligence Agency’s Detention and Interrogation:

“The Senate Select Committee on Intelligence Study of the CIA’s Detention and Interrogation Program is a thorough, fact-based and straightforward history of the program, the purpose of which was to learn from past mistakes and ensure that these abuses are never again repeated. I am very disappointed that the CIA and ODNI have chosen to relinquish their copies.

“This study must be preserved for history, and the Senate Intelligence Committee will continue to conduct vigorous oversight of our nation's intelligence agencies to ensure that they abide by both the spirit and the letter of the law that bans the practices outlined in the report.”
