We use WatchGuard AuthPoint to provide additional security to administrator access to workstations and servers. All servers and workstations are now protected with multi-factor authentication when logging in with an administrator account. With the 3.2.x version, User Account Control has also been added, greatly increasing the protection of our infrastructure by preventing unwanted control from compromised admin accounts. Originally requested by our insurance broker for us to have a cyber insurance policy, WatchGuard AuthPoint has become an indispensable tool in protecting our environment.
  • Step by step documentation making the whole process easy to install and configure
  • Providing MFA security for a wide variety of platforms
  • Cloud based monitoring and logging
  • Advanced policies such as location, time schedules, and geokinetics
  • In a competitive market with many free offerings from major players, a paid subscription is hard to justify.
Amongst providing an MFA solution to a variety of platforms, WatchGuard AuthPoint works amazingly well to provide MFA security to Windows and Mac logins. However if you are looking at enabling MFA for other platforms, there are other free solutions from major players that make it hard to justify the costs involved with WatchGuard AuthPoint.

Helps organizations enhance their security by requiring users to provide multiple forms of verification before accessing sensitive systems and data. Businesses typically use a VPN to give remote employees access to internal applications and data, or to create a single shared network between multiple office locations. In both cases, the ultimate goal is to prevent web traffic — particularly traffic containing proprietary data — from being exposed on the open Internet.
  • Ease of use
  • Mobile Application
  • Uptime
  • Mobile Application Dark Mode
  • Updated Login UI
  • Website Dark Mode
Ideal for employees working from home or other remote locations. They provide secure access to the company’s internal network, ensuring that sensitive data is protected even when accessed from outside the office. Can sometimes slow down internet speeds due to the encryption process. Should alert end users when they are trying to use VPN while on local network.

We use it to safely authenticated our VPN connections. We needed a safe way to connect into our office resources and have multi factor authentication for the users. Without it, we would not really have a secure connection for our clients to access internal resources while having a WatchGuard firewall.

Great for companies that use WatchGuard to safely connect their users through the VPN. MFA is so important these days and this product makes it easy. I feel like it is the perfect pairing when you are already running a WatchGuard firewall. Why go with anything else unless there was an issue with product.

This was a great fit for my use case - if you need 2FA and VPN, this is the easy button. I did alot of research and WatchGuard AuthPoint was definitely the best fit for 15-20 users. The performance has been great and it is rock solid.

We use WatchGuard AuthPoint as our MFA tool for all workstations and web portals. We utilize both the dongles and the cell phone apps without issue. We rated the product an 8 out 10 due to the fact you currently cannot set a time limit on MFA. If someone forgets their token you are able to tell it not to ask again for so long, however you're unable to do this for day to day operations. It would be a nice feature update to set 2,4,6 hr limit that does not require re authenticating. In our environment computers lock after 10 minutes so some employees have to re auth quite a bit. Other than that it is a solid product the cost is very competitive.
  • Integrates with other softwares
  • Cell phone app is dependable
  • Allows Push and OTP
  • Time limits before requiring re authenticating
  • Smaller Dongle
The price is very competitive. Nice to stick with a single vendor for multiple product solutions. Works for Windows pre login which a lot of other products lack. Options for physical tokens as well as app based.

WatchGuard AuthPoint provides our organization with robust two factor authentication for our remote VPN users that gives an added security layer while keeping individual user deployment complexity low. After setup by our consultant, new user configuration is simple, and the added complexity of a hardware token or smartphone app is offset by the convenience of SSO with our AD Domain.
  • New user addition is relatively easy.
  • Choice between hardware or app based tokens.
  • Push authentication is clumsy.
  • User based token transfer to a new device does not always work smoothly.
As an added security layer for a remote VPN scenario in a small office, WatchGuard AuthPoint does its job as well as can be expected. It gives a good variety of options for token authentication and has a relatively simple client set up.

I don't know how well it would scale to a larger deployment than a dozen or so users, however.

I work in the IT department for an automotive dealership, and we use Authpoint for every employee. Because our systems are loaded with sensitive customer information/payment information, we are obligated to use two-factor authentication. Watchguard Authpoint keeps us compliant with the law and our network and users safe.
  • The admin console is user friendly and easy to understand.
  • Activating a token is quick and easy.
  • Maintains a high level of security without compromising convenience.
  • We frequently have people locked out because they type their one-time password into the QR code entry box. I wish we could choose to default to a one-time password for the organization. It would be even nicer if the OTP worked in the QR code box.
  • Being in the IT department, I have to set up many computers, which means I have to use Authpoint codes all the time. I wish there was a way to press a button at the top of the app and instantly refresh your codes. It takes forever when I'm signing into 20 different computers in a row because I have to wait for a new code to generate before I can sign into the next computer.
  • I can't think of anything else at the moment.
It's well suited for large and medium-sized companies looking to increase their security and comply with local regulations. Smaller companies probably wouldn't see the same benefit because the cost of convenience wouldn't be as attractive. Anyone handling credit card information, medical information, or secure customer information could greatly benefit from this solution.

It is used as MFA for signing in to computers. Previously, we had issues where the user's account was not secure if a password was compromised within the organization. After applying Watchguard Authpoint, we fixed this issue, and now we can secure logins with MFA-level security. I strongly suggest using this product.
  • MFA
  • Account Management
  • VPN MFA
  • O365 MFA
  • Sometimes it is slow.
  • If a device is changed, it create issues..
  • Scalability should be improved.
If a user is concerned about the system's security, we should use MFA, as that will prevent incidents where a second layer of security is cracked. However, sometimes, signing in multiple times a day becomes irritative.

We need to secure access to your network in AWS, Microsoft 365, and other cloud applications with MFA and SSO. We use the AuthPoint solution to enable MFA protection and use the Id Portal for SSO to make access more convenient for users.
  • Easy use of MFA through a push to mobile devices
  • Easy VPN integration with MFA
  • Single sign-on to cloud applications
  • Diagnose authentication issues with easy to read audit logs
  • Policies for authentication that are geo location aware
  • Easier to use password manager
  • Integration with Microsoft copilot
AuthPoint is ideal for integration with anything that supports RADIUS such as VPN and SAML such as applications. AuthPoint is also well suited for Windows / RDS login. AuthPoint provides a very good solution for SSO. AuthPoint makes a good solutions for password managements for users with basic password management requirements.
AuthPoint is not well suited for users that need a advanced password management solution.

We use WatchGuard Authpoint in our company for multifactor authentication together with our Virtual Private Network system, also powered by WatchGuard. It provides a safety net for our users when connecting remote to the company resources. It adds one more barrier of security to our infrastructure in a easy and friendly way for both users and administrators.
  • Ease of administration
  • Ease of access
  • Cloud based that makes it so flexible for IT administrators
  • Access to support
  • Authpoint could improve the monitoring feature
  • Authpoint could improve the user connection logs
  • Authpoint could improve the user self service reset password feature
In my humble opinion, WatchGuard AuthPoint is well suited for any type of company, no matter the size of business. It integrates perfectly with infrastructure that already have other WatchGuard products deployed. But I am not sure how will it play when the case is the contrary. With other security products in place, perhaps it requires more admin/installation effort.

We utilize WatchGuard AuthPoint to adhere to our company's cybersecurity insurance policy requirements. It effectively facilitates Multi-Factor Authentication and has been easily adopted by all our users, including those who are not technically inclined. The setup process was straightforward, and it has demonstrated consistent uptime and reliability. We have used it to scale between 30 and 100 workers over the past 4 years.

  • Zero Issues
  • Consisten user experience
  • I wouldn't hate it if AuthPoint were able to offer a google or microsoft authentication model.
Always works and never had an issue after setup.

WatchGuard AuthPoint is being used in all our company departments, for the authentication of all our users when they connect to our network remotely via SSL VPN. We also use Authpoint for the user authentication on our NextCloud installation. We intend to use it in the future for granting access to specific applications via the WatchGuard Access Portal on our Fireboxes.
  • Only one device allowed to have each token.
  • Online token requirement for push notifications adds extra security.
  • Very fast authentication.
  • Firebox-DB users can't use AuthPoint as second form of authentication e.g., authenticate Firebox-DB users with their local password and then use AuthPoint push notification.
  • AuthPoint authentication responses are not bound to a specific authentication request. The correlation between the authentication response and the authentication request is purely time based. Any authentication response for a specific user that is received in a specific time frame since the request was made is accepted as a valid response, even if it belongs to another authentication attempt!!! This does leave room for error and exploits.
  • There are no AuthPoint password complexity policies that can be enforced to the AuthPoint users.
  • There is no setting for each company to enforce a password reset of all company AuthPoint users every xx days.
WatchGuard AuthPoint does work well for the authentication of SSL VPN users, as well as our NextCloud user authentication. It will probably also work fine if set up to be used for the user authentication on the Access Portal of the Firebox. It could probably also be used for other remote access scenarios like Citrix remote clients and so on. Windows login security can also be greatly improved when Authpoint is used with it. We are also looking into this scenario at the time.

Two factor authentication can be difficult to implement. Our implementation of the WatchGuard AuthPoint product was pretty flawless and we were able to get it done less than a couple of hours. We need a quick way to authenticate to our virtual private network connections for support of the network from offsite locations. The WatchGuard AuthPoint product meets that specification very easily. The integration with the Apple products and the Apple Watch on the apps makes it relatively easy to authenticate the login session.
  • Authentication to VPN
  • Easy enrollment of user
  • East management of client
  • Quick authentication to WatchGuard firewall
AuthPoint is well suited for VPN connections, especially where the WatchGuard firewall is utilized. It is easy to maintain and manage users as well as reset tokens when users change phones.

We use AuthPoint for our desktop, server and VPN login MFA. It has kept out so many hacking attacks on our network and servers. We use WatchGuard AuthPoint in our organization and we setup it for our customers. It's very easy to deploy and you can improve your business security by adding Multi Factor Authentication when you need to connect via VPN or login to devices or access remote server. You can confirm your identity with push notification or OTP or QR code.
  • You can use it to connect to VPN by setting up WatchGuard firewall
  • You can deploy it with Citrix Storefront to connect to your infrastructure
  • You can also use it to login to your own pc with Windows 10 or 11
  • It's easy to setup it on a cloud console but there isn't a wizard procedure
  • You can't use it almost everywhere as Microsoft Authenticator or Google Authenticator
  • You can't use it for all operating system
We provide it to our customers when they need to use VPN to connect to their network and this solution improved security since you need to provide your username, password and confirm a push notification or with a OTP from your own device as a mobile phone with AuthPoint app and the token. If you don't want to use a mobile phone it's possible to you hardware token

Quick, efficient way to deploy MFA within WatchGuard tech stack. We primarily use for MFA enforcement onIKEv2 & SSL VPNs.
  • Simple MFA deployment on VPNs
  • Active directory integration for more complex deployments / lower admin overhead after implementation
  • Ability to deploy with user id DB in cloud for smaller / simpler deployments
  • Have had issues where Firebox comes "disconnected" from the cloud, which results in VPN functionality outage
  • Mobile app does not always provide push notifications, even with sufficient device permissions - We train users to open the app when attempting to auth
  • I am not sure if 3rd party authenticators are supported, possible they are and I'm unaware, but this would be a nice feature, occasionally receive objections to installation on personal devices
AuthPoint is the obvious choice if you already have a WatchGuard edge device, particularly if using it for VPN endpoint. I have not tried implementing it for other services, although it has this capability, but if I didn't already have a WG techstack, I would look at other alternatives to protect non-WatchGuard services.

WatchGuard AuthPoint allows our company and others to manage users and keeping their authentication under control. It is a very intuitive and graphic interface for monitoring authentication. The configuration, where users are "created", and administration of the latter is very simple to use and users seem to understand very easily on how to use it.

AuthPoint is well suited and reccomended for big companies that need to monitor authentications. AuthPoint allows companies to manage and ckeck user authentications with hardware tokens and software tokens or directly from the mobile app.
It would be less appropriate for single users because it would be rather pointless as there wouldn't be the necessity of checking a lot of authentications, while in large companies AuthPoint even if there are many users, it is still very simple, clear and understandable.

We use it for 2fa for our VPN connections. This helps add a layer of security when connecting into our network. Cyber security is our top priority. It is very easy to use, and very easy to deploy and teach users how to use. Also resetting a token is very easy.
  • 2fa
  • Send confirmation emails quickly
  • Easy to use interface
  • Getting to Authpoint administration is buried in the menu
  • Provide a dark mode option
  • Allow same email to be used with multiple users
I only have experience with Authpoint 2fa. It is very well suited to any company that needs to add 2fa to VPN connections, which is industry standard at this point. It is less appropriate for things that do not require 2fa, or else have another 2fa that already exists currently

We use Authpoint to better secure VPN for our remote staff, approximate 85% of our staff are remote and work from both home, client sites and Public venues. MFA is crucial if staff are working remotely. Authpoint was selected based on cost, ease of use and configuration, and overall compatability with our firewalls (Watchguard.) Though we use Office 365 and SharePoint intensively, we have specific internal apps that staff must use and specific data sets kept behind our firewalls that can only be accessed remotely when on VPN. Securing the connection is essential. Authpoint is an important part in our multi-layered desktop and communications security.
  • Works well with the free Authpoint client and the OpenVPN clinet.
  • Token management is simple and hosted completely in the cloud to reduce overall complexity
  • Setup was simple and and staighforward
  • Suppports several authentication methods we have used both RADIUS and SAML effectively, but ADFS, IDP, RDWeb, and RESTful API, and other custom apps are supported.
  • Geofencing for RDP has been very useful as it is independant of our firewall geofencing. This is quite useful for organizations like us who do not Geofence at at the firewall level so as to provide global access to resources on the DMZ.
  • Authpoint can integrate with other vendors firewalls, but this is not easily set up. The company could provide better support when customers who need to use a firewall from a third party vendor.
  • The Authpoint native desktop client can fail and need it processes killed at the OS level. At time only a restart can restore functionality. This occurs on about .05% of the connections
  • Thought the actual setup is fairly simple the documentation is mediocre.
Watchguard Authpoint is well suited to both small and large companies and scales well. It can be adapted to a number of token delivery methods, and mutliple methods (Push, QR code, OTP) can be used simultaneously to support users in different authentication contexts. The geokinetics function allows for real control of international travelers distinguishing them from random individuals using stolen credentials in random remote locations.
