The 31-year-old Buffalo State University graduate was found between Second and Third avenues Friday just before 5 p.m. The NYPD says they discovered the remains after responding to a report of a suspicious package on the curb. The medical examiner’s office ruled her cause of death as a gunshot to the head. From there, police launched a homicide investigation. On surveillance video, they said a man was seen pulling the bag with Williams presumably inside while riding on his motorized wheelchair.

Anger over the killing boiled over in Kips Bay on Monday, when the NYPD took the person of interest into custody just around the corner from where Yazmeen’s body was found.

The man, who uses a wheelchair, was being transferred to a gurney when a crowd of angry community members gathered, screaming and trying to attack him.

Video shows family and friends of Yazmeen unleashing their fury as police and EMTs desperately try to fend them off. Several people punched him, while others could be heard begging the crowd to kill him and trying to tear his shirt from his body.

The man [pleaded] his innocence with the angry crowd, before being loaded into the ambulance, which drove away from the scene.

Irish was charged with concealment of a corpse. The motive for the killing is still unknown. However, the senselessness of it all leaves Williams’ family grieving her and the future she wished to obtain.

“She was looking so forward to living, living her life,” Williams’ mother, Nicole, said via CBS. “She got her degree in criminal justice. She went to Buffalo State University, and she wanted to go back to be a lawyer.”
