On Sunday, Minaj wrote in a lengthy message on X: “Out of concern for the well-being of our team and myself, I have been advised by my security detail not to travel to Romania’s festival tonight due to safety concerns regarding protests in the area. I look forward to seeing you all at another time. As a mom, I have to make sure I’m making sound decisions for me to make it home to my son and for my team to make it home to their families. To not heed the advice of security at this time is simply not what I think I should be doing. I love you and thank you for your understanding and support.”

She added, “I am very excited to see my fans this Friday in London for another very special headlining show at Wireless Festival.”

While there hasn’t been much coverage on what specific protests will be happening, Crisis 24 writes, “Civil society groups plan to march in Bucharest on July 8. Attendees will gather at 08:15 in Victory Square and then march from 09:30 to Constitution Square.”

“Business groups and taxpayers are demanding improvements to the state’s fiscal policies and processes. Demonstrators will then rally in front of the Ministry of Finance until 13:30. It is likely that several hundred to low thousands of protesters will take part.”

This isn’t the first time this year that Nicki has had to cancel or reschedule one of her live shows due to extenuating circumstances: In May, she was arrested at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport on suspicion of drug possession.

Nicki claimed on social media that the arrest was a setup, explaining on social media that, “They’ve been trying to stop me from coming to every show. They took my bags before I could see them. Put it on the plane. Now saying they’re waiting on customs. This is what it looks like when ppl are paid big money to try to sabotage a tour after all else failed. Everything they’ve done is illegal.”

She later revealed that she was arrested for possession of weed, which is illegal in the Netherlands. Nicki claimed that her tour manager and security planted the drugs in her luggage to ruin her international tour.
