The DEET Education Program (DEP) is a stewardship effort that offers consumers, healthcare professionals and public health organizations useful information on repellent products, product use, and vector-borne disease prevention strategies.
It is supported by the leading producers of DEET and the companies that use this as the active ingredient in repellent products. These organizations are Aurorium, Clariant Corporation, SC Johnson & Son, Inc., and 3M Company. The scientists and other professionals at these organizations are world-class experts in the creation, development, formulation, and study of state-of-the-art repellent products.
The DEP operates under the auspices of the Ignite Solutions Division of the Household & Commercial Products Association, Washington. Formed more than two decades ago, it works with experts from the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), state and local public health organizations, and healthcare provider organizations.
