There is another way to increase your inventory space, which is basically a simple Cheat Engine hack and it involves buying 1 backpack at Ostagar. Simply load up Cheat Engine, choose DAO process and search for 4 byte integer value of 70 (default inv space) before you buy the backpack (which gives you +10 inventory space) and then buy the backpack. Now search for the increased integer value of 80, find its memory address and change its value to anything you want. 1000, 10000 etc are all possible, but the value must be lower than 2,147,483,647. Still, just to be safe don't go above 32,767.
You can edit the inventory size any time. Just use Cheat Engine to search for the current size (i.e. 25). Then put anything you currently equip back into the inventory (now 26). Search for the new value again (26). Then you will get the address of the current inventory (i.e. 24DAAB04). Then 'Add Address Manually' and put the value of current address +10 (now should be 24DAAB14). That address is the max inventory size. You edit that value.
I want to piggy-back on this comment to say that (it seems like) you can also do this with DA Toolset by opening the .das for your save file at the following location: C:\Users\<username>\Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\Characters\<character name>\Saves\Slot_1\<save name>.das Then, expand SAVEGAME_PARTYLIST and go to SAVEGAME_MAX_ITEMS. Replace the value with whatever value you want. I changed it from 125 to 500. Save the .das file before closing the toolset. The reason that I say "it seems like" is because I already had the maximum inventory slots (125) before doing this, so I can't say if this would work on a new game without this mod or adding backpacks using the additem console command mod. I hoard items in most RPGs so even the maximum inventory allowance wasn't enough for me.
If you edit your inventory to any amount over 125 and attempt to import your save to Awakening you will be moved to a room with no exit instead. The only way to avoid that is editting your inventory cap back down to 125 and dumping/selling off any items over that limit.
I couldn't get Mod Manager to install this properly, but it works great when installed with DA Modder. Just thought I'd mention that for anyone who was having trouble getting it installed with Mod Manager.
Thank you so Much! Kind of ridiculous how limited we are when it comes to inventory, especially at the start (I mean, c'mon, we're hauling the entire parties supplies) and I'd rather not go out of my way to get all the backpacks

What value did you use?
Best, cleaner and fastest way to get inventory size.
