This mod has three key features:

• It retextures weapons to look like lightsabers. Every straight sword, curved sword, katana, and rapier has been edited (with a few exceptions). Many other weapons (greatswords, UGS, curved swords, etc. have also been modded).
• It changes the sound effects to sound like a lightsaber.
• Forces all phantoms (yourself included) to look like hosts (untrue dark ring effect). To disable this feature, simply remove the Data0.bdt file from the Lightsaber Online directory.
  

Please take care if you are planning to use this mod online. I have been using it every day for a while now and have had no issues so far, but no mod is 100% safe for online use.



Installation Instructions:

• Create a "mod" folder in the Game directory (usually located here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\DARK SOULS III\Game), if you have not already done so.
• Place the "Lightsaber Online" folder in the new mod directory.
• Move dinput8.dll and modengine.ini into the Game directory. modengine.ini is what allows you to choose which mod you have active (if you have more than one). You can turn the mod off by changing "useModOverrideDirectory=0" in modengine.ini 
• Note: To get mod engine to work you need to downpatch to version 1.15 of the DarkSoulsIII.exe file (videos of how to do this are on youtube).
  

I don't think you have to unpack your game for this to work, but if the above steps do not work unpack your game with UXM (https://www.nexusmods.com/sekiro/mods/26).

If you want to play in offline mode, open the modengine.ini file with Notepad or Notepad++ and change "blockNetworkAccess=1".
