Amsterdam 2014

The Amsterdam Hackathon 2014 was a small hackathon focussing on GLAM activities and wikidata. It was held in Amsterdam, Netherlands in 2014 from 14-16 Nov. See the photos of the event.

It was a weekend filled with hacking together with other GLAM and/or wikidata developers. The Hackathon was open to developers with experience in relevant projects.

Wikimedia Netherlands has a longstanding history organising hackathons and GLAM camps. Previous events were held in 2013, 2012 and 2011.

Location

The venue was Stayokay Hostel Amsterdam Zeeburg, in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

The venue can easily be reached by public transport:

• NS Train to Amsterdam Muiderpoort, +- 900m walk. 2.10 €, single ticket can be bought from the vending machines or counters in the train station. If you're traveling from Schiphol Airport, buy a ticket to Amsterdam Muiderpoort from Schiphol (3.90 €, train runs every 30 min direct, with change more often) rather then buy a second ticket at Amsterdam Centraal. (walking directions, ns.nl schedules).
• GVB Bus 22 to Zeeburgerdijk +- 300m walk. 2.80 €, single ticket can be bought on board of the bus.

Accomodation

Just like the location, accommodation has been secured in 4p/6p dorms at the Stayokay Hostel Amsterdam Zeeburg (Map), in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

The dorms tend to consist of bunk beds where each bed has its own light and power supply. Inside each dorm there is a separate toilet and a separate shower. A sink is available in the dorm itself. You have to bring your own towels or rent them at the hostel.

1700 - 1900	Developers arrive
1730 - 1930	Workshop attendees and developers go out for a drink at Brouwerij 't IJ (own expenses)
1930 - 2100	Go out for dinner at Restaurant Serengeti
Not too late	Hit the sack to be fresh in the morning
Saturday November 15
0800 - 0930	Breakfast (at the hostel, included)
0930 - 1030	Opening and introductions
1030 - 1300	Work
1300 - 1400	Lunch (at the hostel, included)
1400 - 1600	Work
1600 - 1630	Break
1630 - 1830	Work
1830 - 1930	Dinner (at the hostel, included)
1830 - late	Late night hacking
Sunday November 16
0800 - 1000	Breakfast
1015	Official checkout time (for those leaving on sunday)

1630 - 1800	Presenting results and closing
18:00 - late	Some people will go home, some people stick around and go out for drinks and food (own expenses)
