BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle Dubbed Thoughts

“Not Bad”

Anime Boston took place this past weekend and one of the biggest things at the event was the debut of the english dubbed for Arc System Works upcoming game BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle.

It was announced a couple months ago that during a live stream that Cross Tag Battle would feature english dubbed. It’s been a few years since Arc System Works had english dub in a game. The last game Arc System to feature english dubbed was Persona 4 Arena Ultimax. This was good news for fans that like the english dub.

After watching the videos on YouTube I have to say right now the english dubbed is really good. Now some of the dubbs we’ve heard before and shouldn’t be surprised. You have the same voice actors from BlazBlue, Persona 4 and of course the RWBY characters from their show. Granted this was Es debut for english and she was really good but some voices like Chie, Azrael and others sounded a little different but I could be wrong with that. (Correct me if I’m wrong.)

Now the one group of characters that haven’t had an english dubbed were the Under Night characters. Hyde and Linne were pretty good. It wasn’t the best but it was decent. Hyde’s voice sounded familiar. I’m not sure where its from but I feel like I heard it from a show. Linne’s voice was chill and not much enthusiasm but that's what I expected from her. Waldstein voice I wasn't a huge fan of. I was hoping it be more deep and dark but it just didn’t deliver for me. Now Gordeau’s voice I was really impressed. He sounded the best out of the Under Night cast.

The cool thing about the intros were the interactions between the characters. Certain characters have an unique intro. The best intro had to be the interaction between Ragna and Ruby. You see Ruby fangirling over Ragna's weapon. I love how Arcs System got Ruby's character right because everyone knows that she's a fan of unique weapons. You also see her amazed with Es weapon as well. Now not everyone has a unique intro but I hope when the game comes out everyone does.

Another interesting thing I witnessed is that one of the fights featured Weiss’s theme “Mirror Mirror” and during the fight the theme changed to the end part of “Its My Turn.” Now it might not be huge news but RWBY fans will happy with that. “It's My Turn” is awesome fight music and it fits perfectly with this game. It makes you wonder what they'll do with Blake and Yangs theme when they become playable.

In the end the dubbed BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle  was really good. Now granted there will be people that prefer the Japanese voice over and there is nothing wrong with that but it's nice to have both languages in this game. I’m interested in what the other half of the roster will sound like. What did you guys think of the english dubbed? Be sure to leave a comment below and be on the lookout for BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle on the PS4 and Nintendo Switch June 5, 2018.
