Last year, my family and I competed in a “push-up” challenge, fundraising for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. I think our arms are still sore from it. This summer, my daughters and I will unlock our inner warriors. We will be competing in our very first Jiu Jitsu competition and fighting for those who are in the biggest fight of their lives. Tap Cancer Out is a nonprofit that raises awareness and funds for cancer fighting research organizations through Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fundraising tournaments and donations. Jiu Jitsu isn't just about physical skills; it's about building an unbreakable mindset that bleeds into every area of your life. From setting boundaries to trusting your instincts, you learn to own and claim your space and your power. The best part about training together as a family (with the coaching provided by my husband) is that we’ll be on each others’ team, and no matter what, have each others’ backs, and continue to motivate and empower each other. What better way to do that than by coming together and doing what we can to help make a difference. I'll admit, I'm a little intimidated as I could be competing against someone with more experience and fifteen years younger than me. But these fears and challenges are nothing compared to what most people with illnesses experience every day. #TapCancerOut #Empowerment
