ThrillSeeker's YouTube channel is awesome for VR review content. His latest video takes it up a notch by describing VR design principles. Highly recommended watching for people working in this space. Signifier: Perceptible cues that designers include in interfaces so users can easily discover what to do. A door handle offers signifiers based on its design: - A vertical bar handle suggests pulling the door to open. - A flat plate suggests pushing the door to open. - A sliding door handle suggests sliding the door sideways. The same principles need to be applied when creating a door in VR. It seems obvious, but for many developers the excitement of creating unlimited possibilities in VR means that it can be complicated for the user to navigate the space. It’s not often you get the chance to see behind the scenes of a games studio as it makes it towards the big time. Check out Edinburgh base game studio Keel Works.

VR devs - Where do I buy a cup that's impossible to knock over? So many spills. Maybe there's a tech first solution like putting a tracker on the cup so it shows up in VR? 😏

Love it when two worlds meet and make a beautiful art baby.
What if we turn Google Maps into anime? 🤔 I tried it using Stable Diffusion and ComfyUI. Here is the workflow: - Checkpoint model: meinamix_meinaV11 - Positive Prompt: day, noon, (blue sky:1.0), clear sky - Negative Prompt: (worst quality, low quality:1.4), (zombie, sketch, interlocked fingers, comic) - Resolution: 768 x 512 - ControlNet model: control_vllp_sd15_canny Depending on the Google Maps location, I add a country or city name in the positive prompt (e.g. Japan, New York, Paris, etc.). I used toyxyz's custom webcam node to capture a section of the screen and plug that into a ControlNet canny model. KSampler: - seed: 1 - control_after_generate: fixed - steps: 15 - cfg: 4.0 - sampler_name: euler_ancestral - scheduler: normal - denoise: 1.00 It is possible to optimize this further and make better and faster generations. Perhaps by using an LCM-LoRA, StreamDiffusion, TouchDesigner, or a model based on SDXL-Lightning. Blender Market turns 10. To celebrate they’re giving away free Blender addons. Today’s gift is Auto Rig Pro. I’ve been eyeing it up for a while, but only rig models every couple of months. From now on I’ll definitely be using it when I rig. Grab a free copy, today only: https://lnkd.in/ekH-vD2b #Blender #BlenderMarket #unity #unreal #gamedev #AutoRigPro
