I had an amazing time at #APCO2023 in Nashville this week! 🚀 As someone well-versed in the European first responder market, it was truly intriguing to get to know more details of the US market. Here are some key insights I gathered: ✅ In the US, the development of the next generation public safety network is primarily driven by the private sector in alliance with the end users, with less government involvement. This is due in part to the absence of a comprehensive nationwide public safety network, making the transition to the next-gen network less monumental than in Europe. While the benefits remain consistent, the process involves fewer political complexities and boasts a smoother implementation. ✅ Public safety spending per capita in the US is higher than in Europe. The US market exhibits a certain fragmentation, characterized by numerous vendors fighting within the same domain. ✅ US public safety end-users show greater receptiveness to cloud-based solutions compared to their European counterparts. They lean towards acquiring SaaS solutions rather than assuming ownership of the solution itself. Additionally, they demonstrate a preference for readily available "off-the-shelf" solutions as opposed to crafting custom proprietary solutions tailored to their specific organizations. Successful first day at #ViVE2024 with Yash Gad. Sharing some takeaways below: 🔷 AI was mentioned in every panel, almost as a "so of course I gotta ask….." 🔷 Healthcare will be the biggest industry impacted by the advancements in AI over the next 20 years. 🔷 Health disparity/health equity has impacted everything from nutrition to disease tracking, disease reporting, and health outcomes. There is a need for local audience analytics and insights to identify each community's specific pain points / unmet needs. 🔷 A top challenge is how we move from insight to impact. As an industry, we are equipped with the right data points but we don't know how to operationalize the data and insights to generate meaningful impact and change.
