Finally, The Wait is Over! Meta has started rolling out legs to player avatars in Quest Home - in a new beta announced last week through the Meta Community forums, as reported by UploadVR. Currently, the VR version of Horizon Worlds does not feature legs, yet those testing the mobile and web versions may notice them. Adding the most requested feature on the roadmap is a major milestone for Meta’s VR platform,  as it will make avatars more realistic and immersive. It will also make it easier for users to interact with each other in VR, as they will be able to see each other's full bodies. Feel more connected with others through lifelike gestures and movements. For example, users will now be able to sit down, go for a walk, dance, jump up and down in Virtual Reality. Excited to see how avatar legs will be used in VR. 📢 My initial take on the Meta Quest 3: Punchline: Fantastic hardware upgrade from the Quest 2. Passthrough AR will get many more people excited about the future when they try it. But the headset is still uncomfortable, and the software is still too clunky to attract an entirely new audience from the prior gen. More notes: ➡ It’s smaller than prior gen, but not small enough for mainstream ➡ It’s more comfy than prior gen, but not comfortable enough for mainstream (the head strap is terrible) ➡ Lens clarity is better than prior gen, but I’ve never really focused on that as a super important factor for success ➡ The AR/MR passthrough is a big upgrade from Quest 2 & Pro, but there is still too much distortion for mainstream (VR people will love it, Hololens and Magic leaps folks will think its trash) ➡ UI/UX still in rough shape - users (new and old) should be able to find and access what they want quickly, with little effort ➡ The room scan process for setting up playspaces is amazing, and probably my new favorite feature (powered by new external cameras) Overall, I am happy and excited. The passthrough capability will unlock many new users. But there are not many apps that actually leverage its potential. Yet.
