As part of their strategy for helping states adopt a continuous approach to #UnemploymentInsurance (UI) modernization, the U.S. Department of Labor announced the #OpenUIInitiative. The initiative seeks to change how states and territories build and buy technology that supports their UI programs by establishing a common, modular framework for UI system development, to increase their scalability and resilience, make them easier to maintain, and integrate new solutions through an API-first approach. That’s why for Kirsten, building networks of government leaders and practitioners who can relate, connect, and collaborate is a top priority. “Public service work is hard, it can be demoralizing, I just have a deep belief that when we connect people doing this work there is a much stronger likelihood that they are going to stay in the field and do that work.” Kirsten first founded ELGL: Engaging Local Government Leaders for local leaders to exchange ideas 💡 and interact with one another. Now, she leads our Digital Service Network (DSN) which unites government leaders using technology, data, and design to deliver public services.
