Job Summary

The Youth Team Climbing Coach will be part of a team of coaches in delivering practice content to our youth climbing teams and assist to some degree in crafting the experience for all levels of Youth Team. Youth Team Climbing Coaches will partner with Lead Coaches to plan and execute training programming. They will ensure that a positive, inclusive vibe is instilled in our teams while working to provide the best climbing programming and instruction in the industry. While practices will predominately occur during weekday afternoons or evenings some weekend practices may occur.

Job Responsibilities

  • Delivers outstanding customer experience that helps inspire others to live intentionally and strive for personal bests.
  • Shows respect for others and makes progress towards the mutual sharing of feedback and concerns.
  • Ensures customer service delivered aligns with our culture, mission, and core values.
  • Demonstrates a growth mindset through a willingness to learn and a sense of curiosity for various other tasks.
  • Monitor energy levels and support athlete while ensuring team activities promote our core values.
  • Work with Assistant Team manager and Lead coach to follow the season schedule and deliver the daily instruction for this level of team including Comps, Events, Training plan etc.
  • Coach at all practices of this level of team, and competitions as needed based on athlete attendance.
  • Provide supervision for youth climbers who will be bouldering and belaying.
  • Assist Lead Coach with administrative duties for this team level, including monitoring team rosters, tracking belay training, organizing practice notes, and communicating with parents.
  • Communicate any issues or concerns with coaching staff and the management team.
  • Partner with Lead Coach to facilitate mentorship opportunities and personal development for their team level

Job Requirements

  • Upbeat and adaptable attitude that fosters a welcoming and inclusive environment.
  • Passion for working with youth and developing youth climbing athletes.
  • Clear and effective communicator to support collaboration with others.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with athletes, coaches, parents, and gym leadership.
  • Knowledge and experience in climbing instruction commensurate with the team level being coached
  • Experience in teaching educational programs and/or experience in the outdoor/climbing industry an added benefit.
  • Regular evening and weekend availability required

Additional Information

This is a part-time position.

Starting at $16.00 with flexibility based on experience.

Scheduled shift times may vary from week to week or month to month.

Top Rope Belaying Skills can be taught – no experience required!
