US Operations Manager

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Operations Manager to join our team. The Operations Manager will play a critical role in supporting the smooth functioning of various operational activities within our organization. This position offers an opportunity to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, drive process improvements, and contribute to the overall success of the company.


About the company and the Operations team:


Airthings is a tech company creating indoor air quality monitors and solutions for homeowners and building managers. We are headquartered in the heart of Oslo in Norway, with customers in more than 50 countries. We are 130 employees and counting, including scientists, engineers, developers and visionaries. Airthings is on a mission to ensure people around the world take control of their air quality through simple, sustainable and accessible technology solutions – making radon and air quality solutions an essential and universal element for every building or home.


Airthings ships over 16,000 orders per year to different channels: Direct to consumer, to retailers and to B2B customers. The orders can be anything from 1 device to several 1000s. The Operations team is responsible for making sure all orders end up in customer hands in a smooth and cost-efficient way. The team is currently only based in Norway, and consists of a Supply Chain Manager, Head of Logistics, and 2 Logistics coordinators. We are looking to expand the team with an Operations Manager located in the US, to better manage operations in North America. This is cumbersome today due to time zone issues, and long distances to travel to meet with partners and US-based colleagues. This role will report to the Head of Logistics in Norway.


Responsibilities


The overall responsibility of the Operations Manager is to make sure that the logistics and fulfillment aspects of Airthings’ Order-to-Cash process for consumer electronics is efficient, of high quality and lives up to customer expectations of a problem-free and swift experience.


This includes:


  • Coordinating and executing order management tasks, including data entry, document management, and scheduling.
  • Monitoring and managing inventory levels at North American warehouse(s), liaising closely with the Norway based Operations team who is responsible for procurement.
  • Monitor and assess performance of North American partners (3PL/warehouses) against agreements, including cost and SLAs
  • Develop and maintain accurate documentation of operational procedures, guidelines, and best practices.
  • Serve as a point of contact for internal teams and stakeholders, with special focus on North America based colleagues, suppliers and customers, facilitating communication and resolving operational issues.
  • Budget and follow up on costs, including analyzing on a unit economics level, to find deviations and potential areas for optimization
  • Analyze data to identify trends, issues and opportunities for improvement
  • Identify areas for process improvement and enhancing operational efficiency, share and discuss with colleagues, and implement them accordingly
  • Lead projects and initiatives related to implementation of new systems, tools, partners or processes to enhance operational capabilities.


Qualifications and personal skills:


  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical and process-oriented, with the ability to act swiftly and make pragmatic decisions when necessary
  • Ability to effectively work within both team settings and as an individual. Experience with a global company with international locations would be an advantage
  • Ability to handle multiple projects of different types and day-to-day tasks simultaneously. Ability to prioritize well, ensuring a good balance between short term and long term
  • You have a problem-solving mindset, viewing challenges as opportunities for resolution and maintaining a positive and constructive attitude
  • High proficiency in using tools and systems, both generic tools such as Google workspace, Microsoft Office Suite and more specific tools such as Magento or similar
