Each summer, DG sponsors a robust, paid, internship program offering practical, real-world, hands-on experiences to college students. This summer we welcomed students to serve in roles across our HR, supply chain, IT, communications/PR, marketing, finance and merchandising teams, providing professional development opportunities to help grow their future careers. Last week, Dollar General celebrated the 65th anniversary of its Scottsville, Kentucky distribution center alongside the Company’s senior leadership team and Cal Turner, Jr. The Company extended its mission of #ServingOthers by surprising Allen County Schools and Community Action of Southern Kentucky with $30,000 each to support their efforts in the Scottsville community. “Shellman is isolated from most of the largest cities around it. People would have to travel for miles just to get quality products. The reason I advocated for Dollar General coming to Shellman was because there was a real need,” shared Georgia Senator Freddie Powell Sims. Today, Dollar General extended the Company’s partnership with Feeding America for a fourth year with an additional $1 million to support the organization’s efforts to address national food insecurity. Since 2021, DG has donated more than $4 million and more than 33 million meals through in-kind food donations, helping 44 million Americans who are currently food insecure.
