Wowza Media Systems, the global leader in live and vod video streaming technology, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Writer. As a Senior Technical Writer at Wowza, you will help our customers successfully deliver streaming video and audio to any device, anywhere, and you'll empower a community of builders to create professional streaming solutions at scale.

What you would be doing:

  • Document our streaming SaaS software UI and APIs.
  • Lead and complete documentation projects to better our technical documentation, especially for our developer audience.
  • Produce content for streaming professionals and developers who use Wowza products and technology to customize live and vod streaming workflows.
  • Set up and use software from Wowza and third parties to plan, write, and curate technical content, including user guides, technical articles, and API reference and non reference documentation.
  • Work closely with other technical writers as well as the Wowza Product Management, Engineering, and Support teams to build and maintain a robust library of content that enables our customers to use our products effectively and efficiently.
  • Report to the Documentation Manager as a member of the Technical Documentation team.
  • Partner with cross-functional and geographically-dispersed professionals who are focused on creating, improving, and driving the adoption of Wowza Video.
  • Move nimbly between projects and thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple assignments of varying complexity.
  • Be passionate about helping customers be successful in implementing their streaming goals and have an interest in video streaming technology. Your contributions will play a vital role in customer satisfaction.

About You:

 

  • 4+ years of experience producing technical documentation for commercially released SaaS software products.
  • At least 2 years of experience authoring API reference and non reference documentation.
  • Experience with programming and scripting languages such as cURL, JSON, and the OpenAPI/Swagger specification.
  • Proficiency in HTML.
  • Experience working with content management systems and Git source-code repositories.
  • Familiarity with HTTP-based adaptive-bitrate streaming, CDN services, and OTT delivery is a plus.
  • Familiarity with technical writing style guidelines and SEO best practices to help raise content usability and discoverability. Familiarity with the Microsoft Manual of Style and Chicago Manual of Style.
  • Experience working in iterative software development cycles that use agile methodologies and processes.
  • Strong cross-group collaboration skills, with the ability to gather and incorporate business and technical requirements and feedback from multiple stakeholders into documentation.
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to efficiently solve problems.
  • Self-starter who can work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work remotely and with remote team members.
  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, English, Journalism, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.


Benefits

Salary: $100,000-$120,000

bonus eligible

The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high end of our salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on a range of factors, such as a candidate's qualifications, location, skills, and competencies. The salary is one component of our total compensation package for employees. The benefits below are for US based employees.
