Position Summary

Responsible for managing HR programs which over the course of the employee lifecycle contribute to ensuring positive employee experiences as it relates to employee health and wellness. This includes taking a holistic approach to HR programs including employee benefits, occupational health, workers compensation, leave of absences, and other health related activities. When combined these programs make up a crucial component to enabling employee’s have access to the health and wellness needed over the course of employment with the organization.

Responsible for developing and administering a strategy which encompasses how hr programs contribute in assisting employees in their health and wellness. This position services as a key interface between the organization, employees, and our vendors partnerships.

Is responsible for evaluating departmental performance encouraging performance improvement where possible. Role is highly collaborative in developing and executing a lifecycle approach to health and wellness while leveraging workforce insights and implementing best practices and compliance.

EDUCATION/Experience

  • Masters Degree or an applicable equivalent amount of experience
  • 5-7 years experience administering HR programs involving employee benefits, leave of absences, occupational health, and workers compensation.
  • Clinical/nursing experience a plus
  • Has a proven and successful ability to build, lead, and integrate effective HR health and wellness programs
  • Has a working knowledge of applicable federal and state statutes governing benefits, leaves of absence, and CT workers compensation
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards and reporting requirements
  • Experience leading teams and/or project lead experience is required
  • Clear and collaborative written and verbal communications is required
  • Experience using leveraging data and metrics to draw insights to guide informed decision making is considered crucial
  • Must have access to reliable transportation to travel between multiple work sites; and travel is required in order to perform essential duties

  • Conducts regular meetings with respective business units and vendors to manage applicable health and wellness programs.
  • Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs and policies.
  • Coordinates wellness events
  • Responsible for all workers compensation related program activites, reporting, and claim management.
  • Manages and resolves complex workers compensation/occupational health issues. Conducts effective, thorough and objective assessments as needed.
  • Acts as a resource/subject matter expert in the prevention of employee injuries
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to applicable health and wellness programs, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal department as needed/required.
  • Works closely with management and employees to assess the ability to return employee’s to work in full and/or modified duties.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates employee developmental and educational programs.
  • Provides data, metric reports and analysis to leadership regarding employee trends.
