Founded in 1946, our organization is one of the first in the United States dedicated to diversity in healthcare. We are a leading 501(c)(3) non-profit organization committed to eliminating healthcare disparities by increasing the number of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) physicians and healthcare professionals, ultimately advancing health equity.

Our mission is to ensure every American has access to healthcare providers who understand their culture and language, and who are dedicated to serving underserved communities. Since our inception, we have provided over $45 million in support to more than 32,000 underrepresented students in the field of medicine.

We strive to expand educational opportunities in healthcare professions, strengthen our partnerships with educational institutions, and foster a sense of belonging for BIPOC students through financial, communal, and emotional support. Additionally, we offer resources for current healthcare providers and work to increase diversity in clinical research by supporting BIPOC researchers and diversifying research participants.

Our goal is to disrupt systems that hinder BIPOC students and providers from contributing to communities affected by historical disinvestment and disenfranchisement.
