“I’ve worked with Tom in a variety of roles in my 9 years at Marriott, and on every project he has been incredibly knowledgeable, engaged, and helpful. Tom was my first boss at Marriott and was a supportive and patient teacher, encouraging my career development at Marriott. After changing teams, as a colleague I’ve been lucky to continue working with and learning from Tom. Most recently, Tom led an effort with me to improve the quality of Marriott’s Digital data. Marriott was experiencing ongoing digital analytics issues and reporting outages, and a new data governance initiative and task force was formed to deal with the ongoing issues. I led the task force, with Tom as a lead subject matter expert in Digital tagging and analytics. Tom supported the development of a new process for issue communication, remediation, data quality KPIs and reporting. Once the initiative was complete, Tom helped lead the first cross-functional team to begin collecting and tracking Data Governance related issues in a single place, consistently. This improved cross-functional communication and accountability to various data SMEs to quickly react to issues. The result of the project was improved stability of data fidelity scores with fewer outages and data anomalies. Overall booking fidelity improved from 90% to 96% consistently. Without Tom’s engagement, knowledge, and relentless focus on solving the problem and implementing a solution the project would not have been successful. ”
