He was able to fill all the small holes in our production pipeline that other artists couldn't. From improving technical setups to producing assets, Chris was the art generalist we needed and I hope we deserved. Always calm, gracious and grateful, Chris is always able to take pause and selflessly send you a few words of appreciation whenever everyone else is dashing forward. That same ability to step back, coupled with his experience in the industry has allowed him to bring up countless small issues to our attention. Issues that would have otherwise been missed. Chris has graduated with honors from the University of Illinois, Chicago, with a BFA degree in New Media Arts. He's skilled in a plethora of software: Maya, ZBrush, Autodesk Maya, Zbrush, Adobe Suite (Substance Painter, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Unity and Unreal. Chris is located in Austin, Texas and is open to local on-site or hybrid work, as well as remote. He's interested in both short term and long term contracts. Tomorrow will mark exactly 5 months since Little Red Dog has closed. We were working on our biggest game to date, with the biggest team that we've carefully hand-picked over a 2 years ramp-up period. For a lot of our wonderful teammates, this was the first real game project. Since then, I'm happy to say that 40% of us have managed to find a new place to keep the bills paid, most of that in game development. It wasn't easy. It took a lot of perseverance, but it is something we celebrate. And we keep supporting each other on our Little Dead Dog discord server, celebrating every little win. Every tiny success. Genuinely invested in each other's well-being. It feels really good to wake up to messages like the ones I'm pasting in the image here. But I still have 17 seriously amazing people to recommend to everyone, along with the feature profiles I did for most of them. No reason to hesitate. Reach out to them today! How are you on this beautiful Monday? Are you one of the fortunate ones that can whinge about having to go to work? Or are you one of those who would love to get back to that whinging? (yes, I love the word "whinging") Well, Jarod Kessler is a great programmer who would love to get on that whinging train. Primarily a Unity maestro, but can also work in Unreal and Godot. He spent over two years with us at Little Red Dog and has quickly proven to be one of the strongest programmers on the team - among other things, he was responsible for player controller, combat and AI. He also has a degree in Computer Science and bachelors in Game Design and Development. Jarod has a great talent for clearly communicating how even the most complex features work. I remember very well how I had some AI-related questions (the good old game AI, I mean) and after just a few minutes on the call, everything I saw in the game suddenly made perfect sense and we were able to come up with very simple next steps to get meaningful feedback from the team. Unfortunately, since the (pretty amazing) game Jarod's been working on didn't get to ship, he doesn't have a robust portfolio. I'm interrupting your usual stram of inspiration and teachings weird strangers got from proposing to their second cousins to present to you another Little Red Puppy - William Wong. William is a brilliantly talented 2D artist who also dabbles in 3D during his process. Check out his work here: https://lnkd.in/eiiQt4V8 His tools of trade are Photoshop, Blender and 3Dcoat and he has a degree in concept art. At LRD, William was responsible for environment concepts and it always seemed like it was so easy for him to hit our stylized and quirky tone. He always went above and beyond to add little nuggets of environmental storytelling to his concepts and those were both on brand and hillarious. When you meet him, you will immediately feel what Will is like. Calm and observant, but engaged and ready to jump in and only give input when the situation calls for it, without any fake, loud participation. William is located in Canada, but open to relocation, hybrid or remote work. Full time roles preferred, but can also take part time ones. I've always thoroughly enjoyed his work ethic and tight communication. For me as a producer, him proactively notifying me of relevant problems and delays was simply the best gift I could ask for. He was always happy to join people in our online lounges to say hi, listen in on the design conversations and offer UI/UX solutions. On top of that, he's a delightful, adventurous human being happy to participate in all kinds of after-hours activities. Alexandru graduated from the National Art University of Bucharest - has a master's degree in sculpture. How cool is that! He's available for full-time and short-term contracts.
