Hi Everybody,
I want to take a minute to post about a recent event I went to, to thank a few people, and to also shamelessly note that I'm still looking for a job if anyone is hiring.
I recently went to People of Play's Inventors Pitch and Innovation Conference in Chicago, where I met some truly inspiring people in the toy and game industry (seriously some of the coolest, brilliant and creative-minded people I've ever met).
I want to specifically give a shoutout to three people: Lee Allentuck, Mary Couzin, and Ed Gartin. Thank you Lee Allentuck for telling me about this event and being my first mentor figure in the toy/ game invention world. Several people brought up your name at this event. You were missed! I know you had heart surgery so I guess you get a pass. In all seriousness though, I hope you're doing ok. Thank you Mary Couzin for putting the event together, being very responsive, and caring for the toy industry like you do. I met a couple of your volunteers at this event who kept mentioning how hard working you are, and it truly shows! I was sitting behind you when the keynote speakers were on stage, and I could see you working on your laptop without a break. You're one busy bee! Last, but not least, I'd like to thank Ed Gartin for being the first person to hear out and provide me with feedback about the ideas that I presented at the conference, being a hype man/ connection builder for me at the event, and also for letting me work on a freelance project with you (which ended up paying for the trip). I really appreciate you!
OK- now it's time to market myself. It's my least favorite part, but I need to do it. So I got laid off in May this year, and with the super competitive market right now, I still haven't found a new, steady job. I'm seeking a full time or freelance creative graphic design, production art, or UI design position. I have over 6 years of experience working with CPG companies on products, packaging, and instructions, in the realm of kid/ tween crafts and kits, and gifts (mugs, barware, merch, etc) and games. I've created designs and illustrations from scratch, from branded guides, and from licensor guides (Star Wars, Barbie, Bluey, Hello Kitty, OH MY GOSH, Paw Patrol, ACDC, Pink Floyd, Game of Throne, Peanuts, Elf, Frida, etc). In my roles, I've come up with concepts, created digital mockups, set up sell sheets, and set up files for print. I also have bootcamp experience designing apps and websites. If anyone is looking for a designer, or know someone looking, please reach out! Thank you for reading through this 🙂
