Thank you Trinity Nguyen💎 and Christian Kletzl for inviting me to support one of my favorite brands (and the signal platform that has helped significantly boost our ABM and outbound conversions).     Why we kissed "Kiss Your Pipeline Anxiety Goodbye" goodbye 👋 UserGems 💎 has expanded our positioning and product offering to become a signal platform which meant it was a good time to revisit our website. 🤔 Context & challenge: UserGems has been known for our "Past Champions" signal (aka "Champion Tracking"). It's a brand & product differentiator that we want to maintain and continue to grow. So we needed to figure out how to expand our positioning in a way that: (a) makes sense (b) is still differentiated (c) is not so "diluted" that buyers don't know what we do anymore 🎯 What we wanted to convey: - We now offer a library of buying signals & ability to stack them (Signals) - but you need automation to get your team to action & turn them into $ (Workflows) - With all this data, your team needs assistance to synthesize and craft compelling messages (aka AI…but in a non-eye-rolling way.) After a lot of drafting Google Slides, we used Wynter to get feedback from our market. 💡 A couple of learnings: ☝ Most of Director/Head of Sales & Marketing understood our messaging & use cases and found they resonate. C-level reactions were split: All CROs understood the multiple signals & the pain point of reps not actioning them vs. some CMOs thought of signals only as "intent data" and didn't find the actioning part relevant. Learnings: - Buying signals are very new, even in the SaaS world. - CMOs are responsible for a broad spectrum of marketing and are somewhat removed from the tactical challenges within pipeline generation programs. While CROs (as former reps) are still familiar with sales reps' workflows and activities. How we adapted: - Included examples of signals in our graphics and text - Categorized signals into Company vs People signals - Used "always-on programs" phrasing as it resonates with both sales & marketers - Used more visuals to bring the "buying signal" & "workflows" concepts to life ✌ We loved our "Kiss your pipeline anxiety goodbye" tagline because it was unexpected in B2B and helped us cut through the noise the last couple of years. While it still evoked emotions (love or hate) in this round, we think it distracted buyers from the concept of "buying signals". Learnings: Since the concept of "buying signals" is new, we opted to prioritize clarity over being pithy, i.e. "I need to understand what you do & why I should care at a glance." How we adapted: - Changed the main header to: "Buying signals that actually convert" - Simplified subheader to elaborate: "Boost pipeline by capturing buying signals and automating the next steps with AI assistance" I admit that it's a bit vanilla, but it's clear and conveys (subtle) differentiations, i.e. we guarantee these signals convert. We also updated & created new Product pages (Product Overview, Signals, Workflows, AI) based on the questions people raised in these surveys, but I'm at the character limit for this post. 😆 Let me know what you think! #marketing
