In RNS, Jennifer Walker Thomas and I make the case for people of faith to serve their communities as poll workers this fall: "There are hundreds of thousands of houses of worship and religious nonprofits across the country, and the only barrier to people of faith stepping forward and fully staffing these polling locations is our own willingness to get the job done." https://lnkd.in/euP_jKjj Mormon Women for Ethical Government Protect Democracy Power the Polls

Did you know that in #Michigan you can be an Election Worker at 16 or 17 years of age? #NowYouKnow
“Making sure that young people engage in civic life early is the key to building the lifelong habits that will help sustain our democracy. I can’t think of a better way to start getting involved than serving as a poll worker — which, in most states, you can do even if you’re not yet old enough to vote — and I’m tremendously proud to be a part of the Power the Polls Advisory Council.” Santiago Mayer, Power the Polls Advisory Council

In less than 100 days, voters all over the country will start heading to the polls as early voting begins in most states. Lindsay Langholz is joined by ACS’s Ashley Erickson and Power the Polls’s Marta Hanson to cut through the noise of the presidential race and talk about one concrete thing that can be done to help protect democracy this year and help restore faith in our election system long-term. I've genuinely enjoyed the couple of days each year that I've spent pollworking since I started doing it in 2020 for a bunch of reasons (ex: getting to know my neighbors, getting to see behind the curtain at how election sites operate, doing what I can to help make mine run smoother, etc). Definitely recommend looking into what the process of serving looks like in your area and considering signing up for November!
We are officially ONE MONTH away from Poll Worker Recruitment Day! Mark your calendars and prepare to share this important day with your community. Protect democracy and ensure secure elections for all with us on 8.1.24!
