🌟 Drumroll, please! 🌟 We are over the moon to announce our Q2 2024 CORE Award Winners! Let's give a big round of applause to Shawn D., Maintenance Trainee, from Maintenance, our CORE Employee of the Quarter for production ! Shawn's dedication, leadership, and infectiously positive attitude truly embody our CORE values and contribute to making working with him a joy! Shawn’s peers point out his eagerness to learn, and quick action in fixing the east crane when it was down as just a few examples of his outstanding qualities. Congratulations once again, Shawn! 👏 Equally deserving of recognition is Vi T., Helpdesk Support Tech from the IT department, who has been awarded the CORE Employee of the Quarter for staff. Vi's unique problem-solving skills and on-demand service keep our organization running smoothly. He works diligently to ensure enhanced connectivity in our offices and throughout the yard. We are incredibly proud to have Vi as part of our team and someone we can always call on. Well done, 1-800-Vi! 👏 We’re also sending congratulations to Team 634, Pre-Fabrication, for earning the esteemed title of Q2 CORE Team of the Quarter. They’ve been praised for their collaborative efforts, especially as a team made primarily of newer employees, who’ve adopted CORE values and incorporated them into everyday duties. Team 634 prioritizes shipyard cleanliness and safety which has played an instrumental role in driving our company's ongoing success. We are immensely proud of their hard work and achievements. Well done, Team 634! 🎉 Let's show them some love in the comments!

Philly Shipyard donated this bell and gong to the Oncology Cancer Center Nemours for children to ring in celebration of taking their last walk through the Center's hallways, declaring their last treatment and being diagnosed cancer free or in remission! The bell and gong originated from Liberty Bay, a Crude Oil Tanker that was built here at the shipyard. May the installation serve as a true reflection of the strength and resilience of the children, their families and medical teams working tirelessly for patients to achieve happy and healthy lives.

It was an incredible day at the NASCAR Pocono Race - the Great American Getaway 400! We are honored to have been part of this thrilling event and immensely proud of our own Shawn Jenkins, who was featured as a "Giant of the Skilled Trades” by Buildsubmarines.com. Shawn, a previous apprentice, turned Supervisor, turned Technical Instructor at the Philly Shipyard Training Academy, is leading future apprentices with his expertise and journey in shipbuilding. At the race, there were surprises galore as Shawn's name and our company's logo adorned the #17 car, sponsored by Build Submarines. It was a fantastic opportunity to showcase one of our talented employees, as well as the workforce development opportunities that support the defense industrial base across America. Philly Shipyard is home to many “Giants of the Skilled Trades” and is actively recruiting the next generation of them! Check out Shawn's feature here: https://lnkd.in/gxDs8fUs and our careers page at phillyshipyard.com/jobs for more information. #NASCAR #CarWithAMission #WeBuildGiants #BuildSubmarines

We were thrilled to see Matt C., (right) our talented Machine Operator Apprentice, enjoyed his experience at Navy Yard Night at Citizens Bank Park with the Phillies! Matt won tickets from @phillyshipyard to attend the June 18 game against the Padres. He had an incredible time with his family by his side. It was a well-deserved reward for all his hard work and dedication. We're so glad to see our team members having a great time outside of work as well!

What a wonderful surprise! Recently, our partners Canteen North America surprised the entire shipyard with what we dubbed, PSI Hoagie Day! They treated all PSI employees to a delicious free lunch, allowing everyone to pick from a variety of mouthwatering hoagies and snacks. Thank you Canteen North America for thinking of our workforce and offering a well-deserved break time to everyone. We are grateful for your thoughtfulness and support!🥪🎉

Last Thursday marked a significant milestone for Philly Shipyard. We introduced and held the kick-off meeting for our first-ever employee resource group (ERG) at Philly Shipyard. This inaugural meeting was an empowering start for our women's group, which aims to address the underrepresentation of women in the trades and maritime industry. The support and enthusiasm from our 41 participants was easily felt and the discussion was impactful. There were in-depth discussions on our vision, goals, and action plans to make a positive impact on the industry. A big shoutout to Essen Bakery for providing the catering from their local Philadelphia bakery. The delicious food added an extra special touch to the event- not to mention its woman-owned! Exciting times lie ahead as we work together to effect change and champion diversity and inclusion in our industry.
