Disability:IN proudly announces the 2024 Best Places to Work for #DisabilityInclusion. Congratulations to the Top Scoring Companies*! #AreYouIN? *Note: A score of 100 on the Disability Equality Index does not imply perfection. American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) and Disability:IN acknowledge that inclusion practices vary across companies and industries. "This place has been a constant during momentous events in my personal life. After ten years of trying, my wife and I were overjoyed to welcome our daughter Valentina in 2010. However, our happiness was accompanied by the news of her diagnosis with SCIDS (severe combined immune deficiency) when she was just 10 months old. With the support of Lowe’s and our insurance, we were able to get the proper diagnosis and treatment for Valentina, including chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant before she turned 1. My team not only granted me time off to be with my daughter, but they also provided flexibility in my work schedule to support my family. Maribel P., who was my district manager at the time, awarded my family and I with a check from the Employee Relief Fund. This monetary gift from Lowe’s had a significant impact on my family due to the financial strain we were enduring at the time. This ordeal made me realize that this is not only a job for me, but it is my family and my career until I retire. I love this company and take pride in what it stands for.” – Jesus D. Our Tech Team loves a good challenge and we love a fulfilling career journey! 🛠️💙👇 #LowesLife #LowesTech
Meet Lindsay Boland, challenge seeker and Principal Product Designer for Lowe's Companies, Inc. I have always been a fan of how Lindsay has chosen to approach obstacles in her career with such optimism. I took some time to learn more about her career journey to share with you all! 👇 #LowesLife 1) What attracted you to work here? 🛠️ I’ve spent most of my UX career in retail. What I love about Lowe’s specifically is that the challenge we face isn’t simple. Customers aren’t just coming to us to grab products; they’re working to complete a project and want confidence that they’ve got the right item with the correct approach. I was really interested in working through how we infuse trust and knowledge into our experiences so we can better serve our customers and associates. 2) What has your seven-year journey here been like? 🧐 I’ve had the opportunity to hold a few roles in my time here. I always greatly appreciated my leaders taking a personalized approach to growing my skill set and providing me opportunities based off my personal goals. I’ve had the chance to assist in a major migration as a Senior, drive UX process as a Lead, learn more about our associates as a Senior Manager with the Enterprise team, and currently, as a Principal, I help drive Omni-channel strategic initiatives that help serve our customers, associates, and providers. 3) What has kept you motivated to stay working here for so long? 🙌 I live my career by the phrase ‘if you’re not feeling challenged, you’re not growing’ and for me, I’ve always loved having complex challenges to solve at Lowe’s. I find myself in a cycle of constantly learning - whether it’s about Lowe’s, our customers, or about UX - and that curious environment makes me want to be here. I also believe we’ve fostered a community which allows for creativity, individuality, and camaraderie which create a space for us all to thrive in what we do. #ux #uxresearch #design #team

“Growing up I tended to not speak up or share my thoughts as they were not considered the same as others around me. Often times, I did not feel that I had the space to have a voice outside of my family community. Thankfully, I was blessed to have a family that was and is very proud of who they are and what they stand for. I leaned on them during those foundational years. I began in this industry twenty-five years ago as a seasonal associate with the dreams and aspirations to make my ancestors proud. I had no idea that my seasonal job would lead to a full time career as a Regional Director, however I now know that I am in the position to create a space that allows moments for those with a softer voice to rise, speak up, and to be heard. These spaces and moments allow me to honor those who came before me by creating a better future for who come after me.” - Josh Q., Regional Director Field Merchandising #LowesLife
