In #Ethiopia, the We Can Work Academy has kicked off with 50 participants currently undergoing #CoreLifeSkills training. The onboarding process was conducted in collaboration with government stakeholders and the Federation of Ethiopian Associations of Persons with Disabilities (FEAPD) in #AddisAbaba. The programme aims to equip young persons with disabilities with essential life skills, to engage in diverse livelihood activities with confidence and resilience. It takes a comprehensive approach, providing access to technical, entrepreneurship, and waged employment training. "My job is to ensure that every person with a disability has the opportunity to be involved in agriculture." - Carolina Alfredo Benesse As a farmer and Disability Inclusion Facilitator (DIF) in the #SPARK Programme in Mozambique, Carolina is making a real difference. In a recent interview on IFAD's "Farms. Food. Future." podcast, she shared insights into her work: "By giving inputs and the necessary equipment to do agriculture work, our district benefits from the programme. The community is starting to see that people with disabilities can do something for their community and themselves." Carolina highlights transportation as a major barrier for people with disabilities, especially women, in achieving sustainable livelihoods through farming. Want to learn more about Carolina's impactful work? Listen to her full story here: https://bit.ly/3zg98L8 The SPARK programme is led by Light for the World and funded by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) in partnership with the International Labour Organization and Procasur Africa. #DisabilityInclusion #Agriculture #Mozambique

The #WeCanWork Academy, implemented by the Ghana Federation of Disability Organisations (GFD), completed the Core Life Skills training for the first cohort of programme participants. The academy will equip 100 young people with disabilities with critical skills in communication and self-advocacy while receiving mental health support and training on how to cope with stress. The participants explored opportunities and possibilities for their career paths and chose a path to follow: Entrepreneurship, Waged Employment, or Technical Skills. The intensive 6-week programme reaches both urban and rural areas in #Ghana’s Greater #Accra and Eastern regions. By 2030, We Can Work aims to enable young women and men with disabilities to access dignified and fulfilling work as part of the integral Mastercard Foundation #YoungAfricaWorks strategy. We are excited to see how these young women and men transform their lives. #WCW #WeCanWorkAcademyGHA #CoreLifeSkills #DisabilityInclusion
