Earlier this month, ILG’s Roberto Carlos Torres spoke on a panel hosted by Latinxs in Sustainability and San Diego Green Drinks about his career experience and the importance of promoting #equity and #environmentaljustice in #localgov. We’re grateful for Roberto, his vast experience, and the perspective he brings to our #publicengagement pillar!

We had a blast with San Diego Green Drinks this past Thursday where we heard and were inspired by Yamilett Carrillo and Roberto Carlos Torres's personal stories of resilience and perseverance in developing their careers in climate. Latinxs in Sustainability is looking to rerun our “CCNY Sustainability Level Up” course in the fall of this year. Last semester our course brought over 20 volunteer lecturers from various professions within the sustainability industry to 16 CCNY engineering students so that they could be better informed and exposed before beggining their careers and ultimately level the playing field for local New Yorkers in the CUNY system! We are looking for someone to help us manage this 3-credit program next semester so that we can continue to create and strengthen the workforce pipeline between CCNY and the industry. If you are interested in project managing this workforce program please let me know as we have some funds available! If you are interested in supporting this program as a volunteer lecturer or with financial contributions so we can strengthen this program- please reach out!
