We're delighted to announce that David Norman is joining the Cooperative AI Foundation as our new Managing Director. David will lead CAIF alongside our Research Director Lewis Hammond as we grow the Foundation’s work and help build the nascent field of Cooperative AI and the research community at its heart. Cooperation between AI agents, and between AI and people, will be fundamental to the safe and successful application of AI to transform science, education, our environment, infrastructure, and services. Throughout history, human thriving has been grounded in cooperative intelligence and new technologies. Cooperative AI will be central to the next stage in our story. David’s career has focused on some of the world’s biggest problems, from climate change and conflict prevention to global education and poverty eradication. His consulting work has helped develop partnerships to address complex social and environmental problems across government, businesses and non-profits, with a recent focus on global catastrophic risks and enabling a positive transition for humanity into a world with advanced AI. Earlier in his career, David led WWF’s engagement with the UK Government; led global policy engagement on sustainable development for SABMiller plc; and was a Board member at Saferworld. Welcome David!
