About us
The Charles Koch Foundation was established in 1980 by Charles G. Koch in order to advance social progress and well-being through the study and advancement of economic freedom. Through the Foundation’s history, it has supported the study of economic freedom through grant giving and support for professional education programs. Through its giving, the Foundation primarily supports research and higher education programs that analyze the impact of free societies, in particular how they advance the well-being of mankind. Building on this knowledge, the Charles Koch Foundation fosters the partnership of scientists and practitioners in order to integrate theory and practice. By doing so, the Foundation strives to develop market-based tools that enable individuals, institutions, and societies to survive and prosper.

My colleague and executive director of the Charles Koch Foundation, Ryan Stowers, makes a point that all employers need to hear. Continuing to insist that employees pursue a one-size-fits-all path to success will dramatically limit your success and the success of tens of millions of people who could be contributing to your company. A college degree is a great thing for many people but it’s not for everyone. While much attention has been paid to supporting educational programs that offer an alternative to the 4-year degree, employers are perhaps the most important factor in finding solutions to our society’s challenge to help every person find fulfilling and productive work. They can send a powerful demand signal to parents and education providers – we hire based on whether a person brings a contribution mindset and aptitudes that can add to our company rather than based on credentials. The employers that figure this out first will help spark tremendous innovation in the supply of educational alternatives and enjoy an enormous competitive advantage in today’s dynamic marketplace for talent. As Ryan explains in his piece, there are many great programs that can help them do this: https://lnkd.in/eP87V-z3. #TransformingEducation

We asked Scott Pulsipher, President of Western Governors University (WGU) who saw the potential in him. In his journey, Scott credits his earliest supporters—his parents—with seeing not just who he was, but who he could become. They recognized the untapped opportunities within him, envisioning a future self that he had yet to realize. They nurtured his interests, passions, and aspirations, always believing in the boundless potential he possessed. This nurturing support doesn't stop with our parents; it extends to various other influential figures in our personal and professional lives. These individuals provide the honest feedback and clarity we need to grow. They help us see that our current limitations are not obstacles but opportunities for development. They focus on who we can be, constantly encouraging us to become better versions of ourselves. Scott’s story is a testament to the power of supportive relationships in helping us fulfill our potential. At the Human Potential Summit, Scott will share more about his experiences and insights on the importance of recognizing and nurturing human potential in our education and work systems. Registration is open now for the Human Potential Summit: https://lnkd.in/gQw2frbK Who has seen the potential in you? In the comments, please share your stories and celebrate those who have nurtured your growth! #HumanPotential #Mentorship #NurturingGrowth #FutureofLearning #FutureofWork
