In case you missed it ⬇️ On this episode of Community Table, we chat with Dr. Jennifer McVean, pediatric endocrinologist, Ana, T1D, Patient Expert in Chronic Diseases and Diabetes Educator, & Geoffrey, T1D and IT professional. 👉 We know about Time in Range, but there’s a new focus on Time in Tight Range. Numerous studies have demonstrated the association between increased Time in Range and a reduction of diabetic complications. Let’s talk about it! This episode of Community Table is made possible by Medtronic Diabetes. The system is for type 1 ages 7 and over. Prescription required. WARNING: Do not use SmartGuard™ feature for people who require less than 8 units or more than 250 units of insulin/day. See bit.ly/780gRisks Watch here: https://lnkd.in/dhtKj6jZ

We love it when our community shows us how they #LiveBeyond their diagnosis. 💛 What do these diabadasses all have in common? They each live with type 2 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes can impact all sorts of people. It is not restricted to one body type, activity level, or eating habit. Our Beyond Type 2 community shows us every day that many people with type 2 diabetes train for and run marathons, create delicious and nutritious meals, thrive in fast-paced and challenging professions, inspire their communities, have healthy and thriving families, and crush stigmas and stereotypes just by being them. Let’s stop the stigma. Together. ✊

Let's call it out 👉 People living with diabetes of ANY kind face stigmas and stereotypes that impact the entire diabetes community—even Sports Illustrated Swimsuit models, like Nina. Every one of us plays a role to stop the harmful misinformation against people with type 2 diabetes, including people with type 1 diabetes. By using thoughtful, inclusive language and sharing the stories of people living with type 2 diabetes we’ll emphasize how everyone can help battle the harm. Thank you, Nina, for sharing your story! This week with Beyond Type 2, we’re talking ALL about the stigmas that people living with diabetes face every day—online, at work, at school, at home and even in the doctor’s office. 👉 ALL people with diabetes are stigmatized, but a lot of those stigmas and misconceptions are framed around type 2 diabetes. 👉 We know we are stronger together. We know stigmas, stereotypes, and not receiving proper care and support based on diabetes type has driven division among people who live with different types of diabetes. Because of those same stigmas, stereotypes, and inadequate care, our collective voices raised together—across all diabetes types—is a vitally needed shift. Flip through these images to learn more. Let’s stop the stigma together. 🛑

Host and Content Creator with Type 1 Diabetes

🎬 Saturday was the first taping of the Hey T1D show! I have met countless adults, diagnosed with T1D as adults, seeking more information. Adults diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes rarely receive the same type of education on T1D as children and their parents do. That is why I was encouraged to create this new show, which focuses on asking experts questions about Type 1 Diabetes. I was thrilled to start the show with Diabetes Educator and Dietitian Alison Higgins. She was a wealth of knowledge! #diabetes #type1diabetes #insulin #atlanta
