Family Doctor, >1.5M on Social Media. TV Health Expert on The Doctors, TODAY, NBC Nightly News, CNN, Tamron Hall, Fox, The Talk, Rachael Ray + More. Associate Professor, Rowan University.
There two types of physicians licensed to perform medicine and surgery in the US- Osteopathic Physicians (DO’s) and Doctor of Medicine (MD’s). {Ps, be very careful about this especially when viewing content from “experts” online.} Both MD’s and DO’s complete medical school and residency and licensing exams. We work side by side and we occupy all specialties- surgical and non-surgical. One of the things that distinguishes DO’s is our training in OMT- osteopathic manipulative therapy. OMT is the therapeutic application of manual techniques by an osteopathic physician to address the changes in body structure to improve physiologic function. OMT can be used to treat conditions ranging from back pain and neck pain to headaches, sinus infections and more. I’m a proud osteopathic family physician. To learn more about OMT go to osteopathic.org. (Or you can dm me for a video or 2). Not an ad, just proud. Oh and this segment is from 2012 when I did an episode on the Dr. Oz show about fibromyalgia and we demonstrated (with then-President of the American osteopathic association, Dr. Levine) how OMT can benefit Fibro pain and other pain conditions. Love y’all! Oh, is your doctor a DO? American Osteopathic Association
