Please join us in welcoming Steve Madson, Transportation and Logistics Director for the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games! In this role, Steve will oversee all transportation and logistical operations, ensuring smooth and efficient movement throughout the Games. His responsibilities include coordinating shuttle services, managing traffic flow, and overall management of timely and safe transportation. Steve brings a stellar career spanning 30 years of event production and logistical experience. As the President/Owner of SRO Productions, Inc., a Minneapolis-based event production company, he has coordinated many high-profile events, including the Stone Arch Bridge Festival, Twin Cities Summer Jam, the Minneapolis Holidazzle, and most recently, multiple ancillary events for the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Gymnastics. His extensive background in transportation management includes services for the the Super Bowl, Kentucky Derby, College Football Playoff, NFL Draft, and the B1G Ten Basketball Tournaments. Please welcome Mark Sitarz, who joins the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games team as Emergency Operations Manager!   In this vital role, Mark will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of safety and emergency preparedness during the Games. This includes coordinating with local and state emergency services, managing risk assessments, and ensuring that all athletes, volunteers, and spectators have a safe and enjoyable experience. With more than 25 years in increasing roles of responsibilities, including 10 years as Fire Chief for the city of St. Anthony, Minnesota, Mark brings an extensive background in emergency management, operations, public education, fire prevention, training and diversified hiring practices. He was recently awarded the 2023 State of Minnesota Fire Officer of the Year.   Mark was first introduced to Special Olympics in 1991, serving as an interpreter for the Spanish swim team at the International Games in Minneapolis. In 1998, his connection became more personal with the birth of his niece, Jillian, who has an intellectual disability. Over the years as Fire Chief, Mark continued to champion participation in the mission, supporting the Minnesota Polar Plunge and growing firefighter plungers as a result.   "We are delighted to welcome Mark to our team," stated Linda Lindamood, SVP of Operations for the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games. Freeman Aquatic Center at the University of Minnesota Recreation and Wellness Center is gearing up for the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games and we can’t wait to see you on the starting blocks for this epic swimming competition! Please join us in welcoming John Newnan to the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games, where he will serve as the official Torch Run Manager for the Law Enforcement Torch Run, Final Leg. As Torch Run Manager, John will lead all planning efforts for the design and execution of what will be a multi-city tour and the orchestration of hundreds of “guardians of the flame” officers–culminating at the Opening Ceremony and the commencement of the USA Games on June 20, 2026. John has been instrumental in the planning, organization, and execution of every international Final Leg Torch Run event since 2001, as well as the Final Leg events for every USA Games since 2006, including the recent 2022 USA Games in Orlando.
