It's easy to nod and accept corporate speak, but I learned as a manager that it's ok to be honest. Sometimes managers have the ability to assist in ways you aren't aware of, but they can't if all they hear is a specific role description. If your end goal is a promotion and transfer to an another country, bring up the job and language. The latter was brought up in an ad hoc conversation I had with a team member; I was able to get tuition reimbursement for the language in an addition to the standard position education. It's your life, don't be afraid to speak your mind.
