Welcome to South Carolina Legal Services' (SCLS) Online Intake, Legal Information and Referral web page. This site provides resources and links that can help you in finding the legal assistance you need.
Legal Assistance
SCLS provides free legal assistance in a wide variety of civil legal matters. SCLS does not provide legal assistance in criminal or fee-generating matters. For legal help with a criminal matter, please contact the Public Defender’s Office in your county. For legal help with a fee-generating case, please call the Lawyer Referral Service at 1-800-868-2284. The Lawyer Referral Service fee is up to fifty-dollar ($50.00) for 30 minutes.
Victims of Domestic Violence
If you are a victim of abuse or domestic violence, call the National Domestic Violence Hot Line at 1-800-799-7233 (SAFE). If you think you are in immediate danger, call 911 right away!

Legal Information Provides you with a list of resources with general information about your topic of interest. |

Referral Displays a list of organizations in your area that provide assistance for your legal topic. |
Apply Online Enter your personal information and facts about your issue to see if you are eligible. |

On the next page, we will ask you to tell us what county you live in and what legal topic you want assistance with. Based on your answers, you will be able to pick from: Legal Advice, Legal Information, Referral or Apply for Legal Services Online.
