Two unforgettable days full of family fun. It all starts on July 26 with a pet parade at 2:00 P.M. on Lighthouse Avenue and the "Boots and Blazers Dance" Friday night at 6:00 P.M. Don't miss out on this fantastic opportunity!For more questions call: (831) 649-7657 SECOND HARVEST FOOD BANK CALL FOR VOLUNTEERSWhile many enjoy summer vacations, the need for food assistance in our community does not take a break.Second Harvest Food Bank Santa Cruz County urgently seeks volunteers to join us every Saturday throughout the summer to help sort and pack food for the following week’s distributions. Volunteers are crucial to our mission, and we need 20 volunteers for each shift every Saturday (40 volunteers every Saturday) at our Watsonville warehouse. No experience is necessary, and volunteers can sign up for one or multiple shifts. The minimum age to volunteer is 13. Each box includes locally grown produce donated by growers and shippers across the Salinas Valley and Watsonville.It takes a well-oiled machine of many volunteers to assemble the veggie boxes ($25), and the demand has now grown to well over 12,000 boxes. Along with helping to sustain the vocational training for our students, the fundraiser also helps families in need: You can donate boxes to families in need via the Boys & Girls Clubs of Monterey County, Salvation Army Salinas, The Food Bank for Monterey County and Second Harvest Food Bank.The week-long fundraiser concludes with a BBQ lunch ($20) prepared on-site by volunteers and our culinary team. Lunches are included for event sponsors and available by pre-order only. All BBQ lunch proceeds go to Rancho Cielo, too.The deadline to order veggie boxes is August 1. Those who order 25 boxes or more will receive free delivery on August 20 or 21. The BBQ lunch pre-order deadline is August 16.
