This game only seems to be able to use the keyboard. Is there a way to use a different controller?

On MacOS, I am using a Sony DS4, I did not have to provide any additional configuration.

XBox Series Controller with Win10 works. But no settings to change assignment.
My Xbox 360 controllers don't register, and neither do a couple other controllers I have kicking around. The only thing I have under options is "Keyboard Controls".
I'm still trying to figure out how to get it to work with my controller when I launch through GOG Galaxy, but if I go into the game directory and directly launch it from the .exe, then my controller works. The downside is I don't get stat tracking in GOG Galaxy, but at least I can play the game with my DS4. On Windows 10, fwiw.
I have a controller that can get around this issue (ALL Controller ftw), but the point is I shouldn't HAVE to. Why the game forces you to play KBM mode is beyond baffling.
Just in Case that helps anyone here: I got my "Wired PowerA Controller for Xbox Series" controller to work under Wine/Playonlinux. Out-of-the-box the A-button worked to skip the intro sequences but from the main menu on no input was registered.

First I installed dinput and xinput. But since that did't help I'm not sure that this is necessary.

What did the trick, was opening the 'Wine Control Panel' and under 'Game Controllers > Joystick' disabeling the "ST LIS3LV02DL Accelerometer (js)" entry.

I've never been so disappointed with a game's controls / lack of support for a gamepad.

I have an XBox360 controller that won't be read by this game, and this game only. Just to make sure I wasn't going crazy, I went in and played Cyberpunk 2077 with my controller, yes, it worked, then I switched over to this game (again) and it still won't read my controller.
I play with a Xbox One Controller and it just works, as always with Xbox controllers.

If you've got Steam running in the background, it may be interfering with the game's ability to detect your gamepad. Try closing Steam (or any other programs you have running that might be using the gamepad in some way). This game should work perfectly with gamepads right out of the box, so there's definitely something unexpectedly interfering with your setup.

Well, after I re-installed Win10 and did NOT install Steam, I saw your suggestion and tried again, and it worked!

So, not sure if that was it, but now my gamepad works (it is actually a WiiU Pro Controller, with a Mayflash adapter...).

Of course, I finally bought it for my Switch about a week ago, so that is where I have been spending my time...

Thanks for the suggestion!
