So I tried the legacy components fix, but it was checked on for me by default, so nothing has changed. I also tried running as administrator, and with the windows 98/me compatibility pack, but I still can't get it to launch... any idea on what to do here? I'd really appreciate your help guys. I know OpenRCT2 is out there, but I want to play the original games

Try openrct2 as even i who is on windows 10 couldn't save the game without crashing for some reason so i had to use openrct2, plus it offers speed up options whihc means you can save time playing the game.
Does your pc support openrct2? On what os are you?
Probably you already have installed directx 9.0c redistributable and probably installed the game outside of program files.
